Hair loss 24 years old

Hi all

I started experience hair loss in March 2020 when I was 22 years old.

A year later I started finasteride in jan 2021. I really noticed it about 4 months later as the shredding really stopped. I had a serious knee injury in August 2021 and was on crutches for 3 months. I have been doing physio for it constantly since. Since the injury the shredding and hair loss has got worse.

I feel the the finasteride is not as effective and want to combine a treatment to stop the shredding. I have always suffered from eczema and dandruff. I have looked into dutasteride and minoxidil.

The hair shredding is really is as bad as before I started finasteride.

I am cautious about minoxidil as my scalp is sensitive. I have look into Scandinavian biolab products and there reviews appear to work. Also has my injury got anything to do with the hair loss? I had general anaesthetic and still not back to exercising and playing sport like I use to.

Any help would be much appreciated. My main aim is to stop the shredding.

Do you have any pictures showing your loss?
Finasteride does not work for everyone. Usually, people switch to Dut but you could try topical Finasteride to see if that works. There are lots of different combinations available now. Some include minoxidil with or without alcohol as an ingredient. The non alcohol version would probably be best seeing that you have a sensitive scalp.

What is the best topical finasteride? If I switch to dut, should I stop taking finnistride completely? I am cautious about minoxidil because it success is only 60% and there is shredding when you start?

thank you

You’re best off asking a doctor/pharmacy.
Look at Forhims, they have a few on there.

Hello Fijsdhr2,
Finasteride may not have the same result for each and every patient. You are 24 years old it is hard to advice a non surgical or surgical procedure without seeing your pictures.

If your hair loss speed is not slow down yet. You might consider non surgical treatments such as PRP, Low laser theraphy, mesotheraphy. In this way you will get a better result for a future hair transplant.

If your donor area is sufficient and if the hair loss speed slow down you may have a hair transplant.

You might also try minoxidil. It may slow down your hair loss. But as we experienced with our patients it is not very successful for everyone.

As a result you can try the mentioned non surgical treatments above.

All the best

Hi

Shedding with Minoxidil can occur in the first 6 months but this eliminates "weak" hair for more nourished and better character hair to grow.

We as a clinic can help provide oral minoxidil if you want no side effects of topical application.

There is no single answer to the question of how best to address hair loss, as there are a variety of factors that come into play: genetics, lifestyle and diet choices, age, etc. However, transplants can be an effective treatment for some people. Hair transplants can be used to replace lost hair, or to fill in areas where hair is sparse or absent. Hair transplant is a highly specialized and delicate surgical procedure that requires professional medical care and expertise, but they can be an effective solution for those seeking permanent hair restoration. If you opt for this procedure, you will need to first find a qualified doctor who can perform the surgery.

well, I had a similar experience a few years ago. hair thinning/loss at an alarming rate, I panicked and went online to get info. tried a lot of things and nothing worked. I stumbled on a page where someone talked about some ancient religious disciples in India who never go bald. turns out they have a substance they apply on their hair. at this moment I was willing to try anything. so I asked a friend of mine who was working in India at the time to check it out. I got the cream sent to me and it worked wonders. my hair started growing faster and in about a month of use, I had a full head of healthy hair. send them an email (abiomoigho@gmail.
com) I know how frustrating and demoralizing hair loss is and I hope this helps

Oral minoxidil with finasteride is your best bet at 24.

Yeah, I'm having strong hair loss, too. I feel like, if I just comb my hair with my hands or with a comb, my hair is just waiting to get shredded. I haven't yet found a solution to stop this and don't know of one, either. Maybe I could stop touching my hair.
