Hair thinned around ears

Hey all hope someone can answer my question.
For the past six months I have noticed my hair thinning at the tops of my ears, where my sideburns meet my regular scalp hair. This is very noticeable, I would like to know if this is normal or could there be something wrong with me physically. I'm 30 years old with no other signs of hairloss, nothing has changed healthwise and I've not lost hair from anywhere else.

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, my bro had similar symptons, it was diagnosed a MPB to which Propecia was prescribed, this turned it round for my bro who now has his hair back.

Thinning over the ears and usually in the nape is known as Retrograde Alopecia. Although not that common we do see it in a minority percentage of those who approach us for surgery.

Hi i have it over my right ear it is pretty bad looking when my hair is longer than say a 6 guard on a clippers,over my left ear is perfect as is my nape.I get a hair cit every 3-4 weeks,i suggest kepping your shorter..how short do you keep your hair at the back and sides of your head?have you a pic?

The rest of my hair looks fine, no signs of thinning. I will take a picture later showing how bad it is on my right side.

I can't really grow it long as its thinned so much it looks stupid, shorter is easier to cope with.

Spot on diagnosis, I suffered from this ... sorted myself out with Fin

Some repair patients have experienced the white wall look from lifts. Now white walls on the Cadillac were really big back in the 70 €™s and it was a really good look not so much on one €™s head. Yeah the doctor left that part out funny how that happens. I guess he just didn €™t want to be negative €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦.lol €¦ €¦ €¦..too bad for me and many others.

All information is good so when you hear of doctors performing mega sessions which include loads of nape hair and posters tell you that might not be a good idea. It €™s not bashing it €™s just information.

When someone has thinned above the ears, are they eligible for grafts to be transplanted in that area?

Hair can be transplanted anywhere.

Ive noticed mine thinning in the area you mentioned also over the last year.Ive started using minoxidil in those areas too rather than just front and top,infact i rub minox all over my head now rather than wait to see balding areas appear first.

you need hair specialist so appoint any good hair specialist and be careful.
