Hair transplant 3200 grafts | 8 months poor result

Hi,
I did a hair transplant 8 months ago in HLC, they did 3200 grafts, 1000 of them are from the beard.
  • Extraction - Dr. Ahmet Cengiz Berk
  • Implantation - Dr. Tarık Ercan
Unfortunately I am still not happy with the results, the hair is still patchy, and in pictures, the appearance of density depends a lot on the lighting (maybe this means there are too many thin hairs in between?).
The hairline is not so bad, and frontal pictures are fine in general, but the density on the other areas is not good at all.

At first I thought I may be a slow grower, but I see that even slow growers usually have a better result at this point.

Some details about me:
  • I am 33 years old
  • I also take Propecia (fin) daily for about 7+ months already.
  • I have been in calorie deficit for several months now, due to diet and workout, its not an extreme diet, but I did lose weight already (I am working on burning belly fat).
I uploaded some pictures from before the transplant, 1 day after, 1 week after, 10 days after, and now (only the old pictures are marked in blue).

The questions are:
  • Given my situation at the 8-month mark, does this mean failure, or is there still hope? do you know examples of similar cases?
  • If you think the transplant failed, then what could be the reason? did I do something wrong? its very important to understand this because if I do another transplant, I don't wanna repeat the same mistakes again.

Your looks as though it was diffuse thinning. It is possible you have lost more native hair since the op or you may have had some shock loss that is recovering. However, the growth looks pretty even throughout the transplanted area. Those 3200 grafts covered quite a large area. You have a hairline now that takes away the bald look you had prior. For 8 months and the number of grafts its not bad. You still have 4 months to go until most people see the final result. I do know of a few people that had continued growth after 12 months resulting in them being happy with it.
What has the clinic said?

Thanks for the response!
I was quite stressed, but your prespective makes sense and that gives me some hope that things may improve.

The clinic said lets check again at the 9 months mark, and do another check at the 12 months mark.

Yeah got to give this more time friend you could be a slow grower and it does look a lot better from when you started ,the hairline is in place and you covered a lot of area for that amount of grafts , you using any preventive medications to reduce further loss or growth , keep positive bud your doing alright , Need the full 12 month check all the very best

The "after" looks much better than the "before". My opinion is that your result is not poor.... wait a few more months for more maturation of those grafts

I dont think this looks too bad.
youre hair looks like mine texture wise,a bit wirey.
remember a ht only gives an illusion of density and if you have had further loss of natural hair it may look a bit sparse in certain light.
give it the full 12 months and maybe try a little longer in style.

Waiting is what every clinic will advise. Balody is correct with his comments. It is a definite improvement.

Think you can see lot of difference and must be more to come seeing just at 8 months

Hopefully it comes in better for you in these next few months. Good luck and look forward to seeing it after 12 months.

Quite large area to cover+unforgiving lighting may discourage many, I experienced it many times myself. Even if you haven't lost more native hair, such an area requires another 1000-1500 grafts for better density. Looking from the front it looks quite solid, I wouldn't be dissatisfied if I was you, you have the illusion of density and much more hair than before, you can play with fiber, etc.

Hello everyone!
I owe you an update about the situation.
My hair did improve; it's definitely better than how it was before the transplant, but the density is NOT what I wished it to be.

I am not blaming HLC for that; in fact, they offered a touch-up surgery to add density, and I am open to doing that sometime in the future.
HLC was clear about setting expectations from the beginning since they examined my donor area and knew it's not strong, they did the best they could.
In addition, I went through some things that caused stress during the recovery phase, which definitely could be a factor. Now the stress is gone, so who knows, the hair may improve a little bit more with time.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to look at my case and help me!

Good to hear you see the improvement. Do you have a recent picture?
