Noticed lots of websites mention artistic ability and flair of the surgeon, is it really that important and what exactly do they mean by this term?

It´s vitally important that your surgeon has an artistic ability when working in an aesthetic changing surgical field. It can cover aspects such as the planning and hairline shape and position to the orientation, angles and direction and density the transplanted hairs are placed. There is a transition in some of these aspects between surgical and artistic ability that ultimately make up a hair transplant result that looks perfectly natural. As well as using the donor to maximise the hair distribution effectively.

Some can look at the face and envisage the correct hairline height, shape and placement for the candidate. It can come perfectly natural to them to visualise the required design to frame the face well. With probably minor adjustments when discussing with the patient before the final agreement is made. All doctors are not equal. A hair transplant could be considered a fairly simple procedure by someone who has trained correctly and practiced for some time, not some random dentist or an aesthetic doctor/practitioner who decides to add hair restoration to their services as a way to make money. This industry is littered with charlatans, false and fake information.

I agree with the above posts, artistic ability is crucial.......you need to make sure you go with someone who knows exactly what they are doing and has the experience and ability to create a real looking head of hair.......nothing worse than walking round with a hairtransplant that doesnt look real....trust me dude been there and done that pal.

Absolutely vital. You want to be confident that your transplant will stand up to scrutiny under all conditions, and this is only possible if your grafts are placed in a way that perfectly mimics nature. Surgeons' talent and expertise can vary greatly, and a couple of thousand grafts in the hands of a top surgeon will go twice as far as a lesser skilled one.

Extremely important. It can make or break you. Proper and real lateral slits should be done for hairlines. Doc was told lateral but now i got grafts that look like trees standing up with poor angulation. Looks so unnatural with this so called last repair. Very upsetting. Honestly, few folks have an eye for artistic hairlines in North America. For North America, I gotta hand it to H&W, and few others who are really good at it.

Just take a look at this so called hairline work that looks so unnatural. So called failed dense hairline that got failed repairs and damaged my scalp more. Due to unethical surgical protocols. Im trying to get out of this nightmare. I really need to get out of this nightmare as it is getting extremely toxic for me.

To continue where we left off in our post above and to echo the sentiments of the other posters on the subject and how not all hair transplants are equal.

A hair transplant is all about the illusion of having a thick head of hair because it´s impossible to replace like for like hair lost or place the grafted hairs as close as nature does. A hair transplant is so personal, with expectations being different from person to person. It is important regardless how trivial an aspect maybe the individual understands how a hair transplant is made up. A classic example of this is hair length.

There is a reason you will see very few hair transplants results with very short hair. Besides the fact if you have a hair transplant the majority want long hair for the simple reason of wanting long hair. But the technical reason is important. Even a full head of hair with some hair characteristics can look thinner when shaved or cut short. The scalp is exposed so the look of thickness of hair is reduced. As a hair transplant works on the skills of the Surgeon to distribute the hairs strategically to get the maximise look of coverage and density it must partly rely on small tricks. One being a little hair length makes a hair transplant look better, thicker and fuller. If each hair covers the next, overlapping the adjacent hairs this creates the illusion of fullness. Helped by the individual’s natural hair characteristics. If this is not understood and the candidate decides one day to shave down this look is minimised or maybe lost.

The artistic skills and understanding of bone structure, anatomy and hair characteristics help the surgeon make the most of the resources they have. Planning the restoration from hairline placement back, crown cover and density, future hair loss etc. There are many aspects that make up a successful hair transplant result. There are so many aspects that make up a hair transplant result from surgical ability to an artistic eye and all the technical aspects such as recipient site making, technician skills etc. To perform consistently high quality work requires a dedication to the work and ensuring standards and protocols are maintained and improved upon when possible.
