Hello everyone!
I’m relatively new here in the forum—I’ve been following along for a while now—and I hope to get your opinions/help/advice regarding my hair transplant (HT).
First, here’s a quick overview:
For several years now, I’ve been treating my scalp with Minoxidil, recently added Ketoconazole shampoo, and regularly using a dermaroller. My hair loss has significantly slowed, especially since starting Minoxidil. Only with very close inspection can any change over the last 3 years be noticed.
I don’t have significant issues with my hair status, but I increasingly find myself checking whether my hair looks “good” in photos and often feel dissatisfied and uncomfortable. So, I’ve decided to do this now. Additionally, three hair transplants have recently taken place in my extended friend circle.
My questions: I find this forum extremely helpful and have spent hours reading posts. I think I already know a fews recommended clinics, but I’m grateful for any tips in Europe.
I’m particularly interested in your opinions about my hair status. Is a surgery sensible? How many grafts should one expect to achieve a decent result?
In your view, is it possible to treat both the back of the head and my receding hairlines in one operation?
Turkey “cheap” providers: I’d also like to get your assessment of the cheaper providers in Turkey. I have three acquaintances in my extended friend circle who have had hair transplants (2x EH and 1x Estecenter). I’ve read a lot of negative posts about EH in discussion boards, which has really put me off. I was able to see the result from a friend (a friend of my best friend) live and thought the outcome was very good. However, he won the transplant through an influencer, and a video was made about it. (
). So I can imagine they made a special effort for that. The other acquaintance who went to EH just had it done, so it’s too early to comment on that.
The other HT in my friend circle was done at Estecenter. I’ve also read rather negative reports about this clinic here. However, this acquaintance (I haven’t seen the result yet myself) is very satisfied with his outcome.
I should also mention that I don’t feel I’m very demanding. I’ve followed some reports that I would have been very satisfied with, but they were heavily criticized (due to hairline, placement, growth direction). These aspects wouldn’t have bothered me.
I think many feel the same way as I do—it’s very difficult to form an objective opinion. On one hand, the aggressive advertising and negative reports about these cheep clinics are quite off-putting. On the other hand, there are positive experiences in my friend circle and the consideration that many who paid three times more for a HT don’t want to accept that decent results can also come from these providers. Whenever I fly from Istanbul to Germany, it feels like the whole plane is full of EH hats. I think it wouldn’t work if most HTs (or a large part) went poorly.
I’m quite sure that the results from a reputable provider would look better and more natural. I just wonder if it’s worth the extra costs.
Summary: Well, I will gather offers from some of the clinics recommended. At the moment, I’m leaning towards a reputable clinic and would rather wait or forgo it if it exceeds my budget too much.
Thank you in advance for your help—especially regarding the assessment of my hair status.
Thanks a lot!
Best regards, Sven

First, here’s a quick overview:
- Age: 31
- Residence: Germany
- Current hair status according to the Hamilton-Norwood scale: I would say a 4
- Planned budget: up to 8,000 EUR (max. 10,000 EUR)
- Family hair status (parents/grandparents): Father and mother have normal/dense hair, grandfather had significant hair loss at a young age
- Hair loss progression (fast/slow?): Slow over the past few years since starting treatment with Minoxidil
- Stopped hair loss?: At least significantly slowed. There’s hardly any noticeable progress in the last 3 years (but visible in detailed photo comparisons)
- Medication (treatment attempts/successes/current medication): Minoxidil 2x daily for 3 years, microneedling 2x weekly, Ketoconazole shampoo
- Any specific hair surgeons/clinics already shortlisted?: HLC, Dr. Bicer, Demirsoy, (possibly EH, Estecenter due to experiences in my friend circle)
- Previous hair transplants (year? Surgeon?): None
- Preferred treatment method (FUE/FUT?): FUE (Why might FUT make sense?)
