SMP might get darker instead of disappearing after laser removal due to a few different reasons. 1. Pigment Compositon: the pigment your provider used may have included materials that react differently to laser treatments. Some pigment contains metals that oxidize when exposed to laser light, causing them to darken. 2. Laser Interaction: The laser breaks down the pigments into smaller particles for removal by the body's immune system. However, if the laser isn't calibrated for smp pigment, it could alter teh pigments color rather than break it down. 3. Type of Laser: Different lasers are optimized for removing specific types of ink or pigments. If the laser used isn't suitable for the smp pigment, it might not effectively break down the particles. 4. Depth of Pigmentation: smp is often applied at a more superficial level in the top of the dermis in comparison to a tattoo. If the laser energy isn't carefully controlled, it might affect the color without effectively removing the pigment. I would ask your provider the name of the pigment they used and for the ingredients and then ask your laser specialist what type of laser they used. I'm happy to help you figure out what we need to do from there.
