Hi everyone! So, the basics are, Im 29, have had a thinning of hair occuring for the past 6 years, its still nothing too major receding, hairline, and a crown that shows scalp under sun and some lights, nonetheless, it annoy the hell out of me. I dont expect it to get much worse at this stage and an FUT seems to offer the most value for money in terms of hair per pound as it were. Where would people recommend is the least risk for an FUT whilst at the same time offering the most value for money?
Many thanks,
Michael

Before you go down the HT route have you looked into trying meds first to prevent future loss and maybe regrow hair, there are some great examples on the forum.

I've thought about it but i'd rather do something that will 100% work

The meds may work but if you don't want to try them do as I said and consult with a few clinics. Have you any pictures you can post so we can see your hairloss situation.

I'l try and post some later, can i ask though, seeing as you must have read alot of posts by now. What do you believe the general consensus is with regard to a clinic that strikes the best compromise between value for money and expertise?

Mike, the way to do it is to find clinics that you trust and you feel comfortable with, then look at the money.

If you cannot afford them don't proceed.

It is because you can be disfigured, or put in a worse position, if things don't work out. You have to be confident in those on your shortlist.

I wonder will we see alot more top doctors moving from country to country. Similar to the glasgow clinic?

Ireland could do with a top doc coming over a couple of weeks a year.

Do you mean a clinic that people rate as a world leader but are cheaper than their competitors or a clinic that will provide an acceptable result but are cheaper than the rest.

If Im honest, I think my line of questioning was probably wrong in the first place, a better question would have been to say, whats the general consensus for a reliable transplant, that gives value for money, obviously value for money, dosent always mean cheapest. I've done alot of reading subsequently on alot of forums, seems to be Dr Bisanga of BHR is the way forward. I've not really seen as many testimonies for any other Doctors, so I think the next step will be to contact BHR and take it from there.

Maybe my approach is wrong and speaking honestly about this industry should be left to others.

Dr. Bisanga is a good man and a great ht doctor. He is very highly skilled, has been born with the talent of seeing in his mind what needs to be done and what should not be done and then have that thought travel through his eyes and hands. This is a unique talent and very few are born with it.

He is soft spoken, mild mannered and very calm. Another unique trait that make those around him perform at a higher level.

I don't say it often on postings because it sounds like I am selling for the clinic but it is the truth so thank you God for showing me the way to that door I don't think I did it alone.

Is a hair transplant always the right solution €¦ €¦ €¦..no. Some people are just not good candidates and they should be told that for their own benefit because it is the right thing to do. In my opinion a hair transplant should be a high mature thinning hairline leaving the crown bald. It is safe approach unless you are up in age and have very little loss or your hair loss has completely stabilized with no further loss expected than the crown or perhaps a lower thicker hairline might be okay.

If you have unrealistic expectations or do not fully understand the procedure I would suggest not having a procedure at a;; and/or educating yourself on what you can expect.

Mike, I was in the same position as you about 6 months back. I've done an unhealthy amount of research, and met with several docs in person. I came to the same conclusion as yourself and I'll be in BHR in August for FUE. I was very impressed with the other options too mind. I felt meeting them in person gave me a great feel of things. E.g.the docs confidence in your case, your gut feeling on the doc, the docs personal plan for you re number of grafts (it is amazing how this can differ from doc to doc).

I have a detailed thread that might be worth a look!

Hey Johnny thanks for the reply, I wish you all the best, are you worried about how long it takes you to recover post op? cos I i'd imagine i'l be able to take two weeks off work to get it done and recover, but I hate the thought of that not being enough and turning up to work with a scabby head-not a good look! Any chance you could post me a link to the thread you've already posted? Cheers dude!

No prob, here it is: http://www.hairlossexperiences.com/view_topic.php?id=3879&forum_id=2.

Re recovery, to be honest it is an issue for me. It may sound dumb but the part I am dreading the most is the shaving. I know for a fact it will not suit me. The scabs I'm not worried about because they should be gone 7-10 days post op.

I'm spending a week in Brussels too so I'll be popping into the clinic for a quick wash/check until I leave. The next 2 weks of my time off work consists of meeting my gf in Amsterdam for 4 nights, then onto Spain for 10 days. This will bring me up to the 3 week mark and arriving home for the first time.

I'm praying that redness won't be a huge factor since I have quite a bit of native hair as it is. I'll probably be overdosing on MSM in the hope it grows back nice and quick. I'm not fooling myself though, I expect to look rough for the first 2-3 months, with the hope that by December I'll be back to at least pre Op situation with HT growth kinking in at that point!

Happy to answer any other ques....be they here or in my own thread.

I've read that thread before as it goes, it was really informative, felt like you kinda did the work for me in terms of researching haha. I hate the idea of shaving my head as well, take it theres not much choice in terms of that? The redness I think I'l be able to get away with, Im half columbian, meaning I've got abit of a tan which I think should cover it up.
So I take it you've already been taking medication and stuff for your hair? I thought about it, but I cant be bothered, theres no guaranteeing even if no more hair falls out during the period you start taking medication, that it has anything to do with any supplements you've been taking. Naturally, once I have the HT, I'l be hitting all the meds the doctor recommends, at least your results are guaranteed to be an improvment. Im thinking i'l be doing mine around february, so I'l definately be watching hows things go for you with a keen interest, are you gonna be posting a blog with before and after results?

2 weeks you should be fine in terms of scabs off. I had hardly any redness at all so that wasnt an issue. Everyone is different though.

My advice is to shave your head a month or 2 before Op. Let work colleagues get used to seeing you with a shaved head.

Then when you return theres no surprise element at your new look and no-one will look twice at your head in case theres any residual evidence of surgery hanging around.

Prepare to look like shit alright for a month or 2. If you dont its a bonus! Id also get on MSM now to crank it up in your system as it take a while to kick in. I think you need discontinue everything though a week ahead of the Op.

full blown irish, oh dear! I guess you could just go out into the sun for like 10 minutes, then the rest of your head will be red as well and no one will notice ;) I cant wait to read your post, i'l definatley be doing one as well, think we're all kinda in this together, which is a really cool thing! Boberto, looking shitty for 2 months sucks, whats msm? honestly, i worry about using medicine, not cos of side effects, but its authenticity as well, my hair aint fallin out particullarly bad, so i'd rather wait and see what the doctor prescribes as post HT treatment, do you think doctors are sponsored to promote particular products? i hope thats not the case!
