I'm only 22 I can see the skin on my head because I'm losing my hair fast. What can I do before I lose all of my hair? Are there any natural remedies that work?

Hey dude welcome to the forum, have you spoke with your GP to establish if there is any medical issue causing your loss if it's happening very quickly. If it's MPB your are experiencing then the main two products are minoxidil which can be bought as either liquid or a foam called regaine/rogaine and medications called propecia or Finasteride however they do carry risks of some side effects for some people. There are a few natural alternatives one such product is saw palmetto, but again this can cause side effects so be aware. I would speak with your GP first though to rule other things out.
Best wishes BN

My hair is going in a horse shoe pattern so I'd say it's male pattern baldness. I did ask my family doctor about it which he replied there's nothing that can be done as its in my Genes. Where do I purchase these products?

The meds to use are Finasteride/Propecia and minoxidil/Rogaine. They may regrow your your hair and prevent future loss. They are usually a life long commitment.
There are possible side effects from taking these products which you need to check into before deciding if you wish to try them.
All the best
Bm.

Read up as much as you can about these medications. They can be a great benefit to you but you should be fully informed about them before you make the decision to commit. As Bigmac said, it is usually a life long commitment.

My view is different when it comes to these dht lowering medications. Basically you are trading your masculinity for hair and in my opinion that is a very, very poor trade. Even if I could have back all my hair at this point in my life including scar areas I absolutely would not take that trade.

In my opinion what is the point of having hair if you have to feminize your body. An even more important point is that if surround yourself with too much talk on the benefits of hair loss medications you are more apt to choose it as it becomes a slow conditioning process.

I would suggest researching DHT itself and the role it plays in the male body then you would have a more balanced view in which to decide. It €™s not just about short term side effects but what you are doing long term to your body/brain.

Personally I like the idea of approximately 3000-4000 fue max when the time is appropriate with the addition of beard fue if it makes sense. You may only achieve about 20% of your hair back depending on your loss pattern but in my opinion it €™s a safer approach outside of just shaving your head. Of course you are much too young for that decision but maybe several years from now. Also keep in mind that their might be better options in the near future.

It does appear Finasteride is the best option if I want to keep my hair. After thinking long and hard I'm going to give it a try. How quickly do you know if you're getting sides?

Please let us know how you get on dude. As for the sides, everyones different, so some may experience sides fairly quickly and others it may take a while. Some people also develop mild sides to start with which can subside when your body get used to them. Initially i had slightly watery semen (sorry for being graphic) but this subsided quickly and things are ok now.
One thing i will say is the actual fear of having side effects like erection difficulties etc can actually cause the side effect itself. All i can say really is give it a while and see how you get on. For me i have been fine on them for many years and it has certainly saved what i had left of my hair and created a nice foundation for my surgeries.
Good luck

I'm going to start on a smaller dosage of 1/4 pill every 2 days gradually increasing to every day with a break of of one day making it 6 days on, 1 day off. This is providing my body accepts the Finasteride with no associated complications.

That is a good way to break yourself in to the routine. I'd like to clarify one thing that was said. Finasteride does not "feminize the body" as a general rule so anyone that says this as a statement of fact is simply out to lunch on the realities of the medication. This is not to say that it doesn't happen but incidence of such issues are rare.

Appreciate the support guys.
I've researched the sides from Finasteride induced Gynecomastia which arrest a small proportion of males. From reading various studies it would appear we are more at risk from the food we eat with all the addititaves they possess. I'm hoping I respond well. I'll never know unless I try so we shall see.

If you know the possible risks that a small percentage of Finasteride users suffer then judge for yourself if its a risk worth taking to hold onto your hair. I take Finasteride with no sides to report. The slow cautious approach you are taking will hopefully work out for you.

Good luck.
