Microneedling & scarring

Hi guys,

Anyone found that microneedling at around 1.5mm left permanent scarring?

Is there any truth in the rumour that it builds scar tissue, making hair transplants less likely to succeed?

Cheers

One issue with home micro needling is infections of the scalp. Keeping the roller/needles sterile is something quite a few won’t do. This can lead to problems.
Scarring is a possibility, to what extent I’m not sure. Will it effect growth from a transplanted graft, I don’t think so but you’re best to ask any hair transplant doctor that you may be considering.
Are you using a device at this depth? If so, have you noticed any benefit?

Thanks for the info man. I'm still trying to decide if it's for me or not.

What is your current hair loss situation? Are you on any hair loss prevention regimen?

Guessing Nw2/3. Do take 5% rogaine foam twice daily. Can't take anti androgens because of side effects.

Still losing hair. But i think it's helping slow the process (been about 10 years).

I use 1.5mm dermaroller too, I do that once a month, and use 0.5mm 3x a week.

How often do you use yours?

According to Hairverse:

"A dermaroller with longer needles (0.5 – 1.5 mm), on the other hand, significantly boosts the production of endothelial growth factors for hair, as it reaches the hair bulge region. Such dermarollers for hair growth are the most effective.

Ideally, you should use it once every 3-4 weeks, not shorter than that. Especially when longer needles (1.5mm) are used, as you need time for cells to regenerate."

I didn't notice any scarring tissue and, to be honest, haven't heard of others who did after using 1.5mm. Anyways it is always a good idea to consult a derm, just to make sure you are good to go.

Thanks for the information! Did you notice any improvement after you started?

I haven't tried it yet. Looking into potential scarring and subsequent reduced hair transplant effectiveness before i pull the trigger.

I've seen some posts about the potential for micro needling to cause scarring, so I wanted to share my experience. I recently had microneedling done at a depth of around 1.5mm, and I'm happy to say that it was great for my skin! I haven't experienced any permanent scarring or seen any change in the success of my hair transplants.
