Does anyone know where I could get oral Minoxidil in the UK please? And advise what the possible sides are?
Many thanks

Farjo clinic supply it or you can search Loniten which will provide you with a number of online outlets that supply it.

This link explains the possible sides

I assume those symptoms are when considering a much higher dose suitable for blood pressure treatment?

Is oral minoxidil approved for use to treat hair loss in any geographies?

Those symptoms are linked to the higher dosage medication for the treatment of high blood pressure because that is its intended use. Lower dosage has the potential to cause the sides listed. Just like Finasteride, half a milligram or less causes sides for some.

Kevboy has pointed it out.

Oral is an off the shelf med that is supplied for hair loss but has not been FDA approved to treat hair loss.

You might find this study has some useful info for you.

www. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7649170/

I’m currently taking oral minoxidil, but I’m concerned about long term safety. I will discuss with my GP when I next to speak to her.

I just ordered some from manual for just over £30 for 3 months with a discount code found online. It comes in 2.5mg. Do you advise taking it at this dose or reducing it by half? I am a long time user of fin with no sides. The study above used 5mg dose. Thanks

Your GP like i do.
It is not always that easy, I tried getting a prescription from my GP and they were simply not interested. They advised me to go private even though I was happy to pay the cost of the medication.

Just try again with another Dr.. tell them it's impacting your life and making you depressed. You can't afford a HT. I got refused a few times but persevered and hot it. Tell them you want to start on 2.5mg daily. It's a black box prescription. Tell them the safe maximum recommended dose is 100mg daily you only want to have 2.5mg, so safety isn't an issue especially woth a blood preasure machine to moniter.Tell them you have a blood pressure machine and give them a blood pressure reading..... tell them rhe NHS give minoxidil to cancer patients to stop losing their hair on treatments. YOU WILL GET IT EVENTUALLY... it was hard for me to get... no I'm on it it's easy repeat private prescription.

If they tell you to go private tell them it's a £300 consultation every 6 months and charge triple for meds. Tell them that will effect you in the pocket and cant afford. Tell them they can prescribe it under white label treatment under the gmc as long as safety and and documents prove it works they can prescribe loads of proof on net even nhs give it to patients. . Its safe at micro doses.

Yeah I had the same trouble. I think unless they have good knowledge on the subject it will be very difficult

Yes tried that, went to two different GPs. issues I have is that I would need to switch doctor surgeries again to do that which is hassle. I have instead gone to Dr Farjo who charges £95 for a consultation and then I take it to my local pharmacy. I started on 1.25 and have moved up to 5mg. A consultation every 6 months with a doctor who actually knows about hairless.

Having had my first surgery 12 years ago I have been round in circles when it comes to NHS GPs. A lot of them know about finasteride and topical minoxidil, once it goes off label they are not interested. I spoke to one GP who used to prescribe finasteride privately, Dr Ashcroft and he said the main reason is insurance liability. In the past they could prescribe off label but today in his opinion many doctors do not want to spend large sums on private insurance.
