As it had been difficult to chose the right clinic, I wanted to write a review on the one I ended up chosing – to give back to the comunity.
Beginning of February 2020, I had a 2 day hair transplant session at the Prohairclinic in Belgium. 3.000 grafts were put in and it was agreed on, that I would come in another time for a second transplant. I couldn’t be any happier with my choice of clinic. It was an almost fun experience. It went fast, smooth, with no pain whatsoever and concerning the healing (the result - I can of course not judge yet) it was ridiculous. I left the clinic on the first day for the hotel and on the second day for a straight 3 hours drive home with no discomfort at all. Also, I had no bandages or head scarves or anything. I was able to let nature and the air do their healing work. On the first 2 nights (1 at the hotel and 1 at home) I had little to none water coming out of the wounds. Other than this, from the 3 night and 4th day on, I was wearing T-Shirts and hoodies and in retrospective, I never wore a cap or any type of hat on my head. There was just nothing that needed to be hidden. On the 10th day I went undisguised on national TV - that is how comfortable I felt with the status (healing progress) of my head.
As to the swelling. I had swelling on the third day, that only I was able to detect (knowing my face best). So one could say I had no swelling. The scrubs were gone with the first head wash on the 8th day.
All of the above, the perfect and fast healing of the wounds, I think, is because of how gentle the donor and the transplanted area were treated by the team. I never even felt the injection of the anesthesia, let alone the transplantation itself. They really made me feel like a welcomed patient, with all the time in the world that I needed. The second day, knowing what would happen from the first day, I was so excited and relaxed, I even jumped onto the surgery bed.
Hair transplantation is handcraft. Which means, it doesn’t matter, whether a big doctor’s name with publications to his name or a huge fancy clinic is mentioned on the invoice of your treatment. What matters is the very person, that actually will do the job. With Prohairclinic, you know the exact people and the exact team, that will physically be taking the grafts out of your scalp and be putting them in.
I am now 3 weeks post surgery. I cannot say anything about the end result. But I can say that if I was half as satisfied with the result as I am with the experience of the surgery itself, I will be smiling from ear to ear.
I will be coming back to this thread and post my progress. All the Best to everyone.
