Prohairclinic introduces new doctor

Prohairclinic

Prohairclinic FUE and SMP
Hi All Forum readers,

Today I would like to announce that at the end of this year Dr. De Reys will retire his active career as a Doctor completely. Being a member of our team for nearly 5 years he will be remembered as someone who devoted a lot of energy in trying to make the best result possible for each patient.

Since he was kind enough to foresee the future of Prohairclinic he trained our team for the past 2 years in ALL aspects of FUE hair transplantation. Today our team members are able to work as an independent team completing all tasks required during FUE hair restoration. Obviously we will work along with a new doctor. Team Prohairclinic will remain intact, all members are staying with our clinic and will train Dr. Mertens into the art of FUE hair transplantation.

For this reason we will move Prohairclinic to Medipolis complex in Wilrijk (next to Antwerp and only 15 minutes drive from our current location), at the end of 2009. Prohairclinic will join Medipolis, a large medical complex offering : eye surgery, plastic surgery, dental care. From 2010 onward Prohairclinic will carry out all hair transplantation for Medipolis as well as for our own patients, along with dr. Mertens.

Apart from the change of doctor everything will be executed as before using the same routines, the same extraction instruments (only manual extraction using 0.7-0.8 mm punches). Lateral slits will be used for implanting and as before we offer up to 2500 FUE grafts in a single day, or up to 4000 grafts in a 2 day treatment. Patients can expect the same level of quality, regrowth and patient care.

Due to our FUE only policy we have an extremely experienced team that has been trained by dr. De Reys to guarantee the level of service that is known to be attached to the name Prohairclinic.

Dr. De REys is an excellent physician. I hope that he enjoys retirement. Best of luck to Prohair to have the same successes as previous.

Thanks Bart for keeping the forum informed on Dr De Reys retirement.

Wishing you well for the future.

Also any chance you could get the cosmetic side of this clinic to post some results in the cosmetic section.

Well its going to be a new age for ProHair. But seriously we need to know more about the qualifications of Dr.Mertens.
Don't you think that its best to get the new doctor a thorough training from a real Doctor specialized in FUE with a solid reputation rather than being trained by non physicians.

Hi Mypain,
Our situation is somewhat different I guess, let me explain.
Please understand that some member of our staff had experience in the field of FUE HT before dr. De Reys started to work at Prohairclinic in 2005. Dr. Ilter trained Dr. De Reys back in 2005 but this involved mostly the usage of local anesthetics for HT and the extraction process. Design, workflow, cleaning up the grafts, calculating density and implantation have basically always been done by team Prohair. Over the last 2 years some of our team members have been trained by dr. De Reys to extract the grafts as well. This process was a slow build up, starting with small sessions of about 500 grafts daily to about 2000-2500 grafts daily nowadays, of course under total medical supervision. Please do not forget that we run an €˜FUE only €™ clinic and as such we perform FUE as a standard procedure.
FUE is all about a team approach since the workload is too high for a one or two person group ,at least if you are trying to move larger amounts of grafts in a single day. By breaking up the process and giving each team to work and focus on 1 part of the job we believe it is in the best interest of the patient. Each team has its own specialty: some are good in extraction, some are better in placing the grafts. By having the best specialist at the job, whether it is a dr. or a super assistant, we feel that this is the right way to meet the patients expectations and goals. Last and not least this method of working also makes it possible to keep the costs manageable. In fact our method of working is not (very)different from some other known institutes that offer FUE.
We are proud of our good work and you can be assured that we will continue to document our work as before. We strongly believe in €˜its all about results €™ and happy patients.
