Question About Hair Transplant Possibilities

Hi there!

I have recently had a cyst removed from the top of my head, close to my hairline. Unfortunately as it healed, it has scarred, which means I can no longer grow hair in that area. Attached are pictures. I was wondering if it was possible to have a transplant on that part of my head, where the scar tissue is, to blend in with my hair like how it was before it was done? Will hair actually ever be able to grow there again? I see many conflicting answers on the internet, so I want to get a better idea.

Any solid advice would be appreciated.

Yes, hair will grow here from a transplant. I'd first have a doctor assess the timeline for such a procedure as your scar is still reddish which may mean it is still healing. Most experienced physicians will tell you that you'll be better off doing a few passes of lower density to help build up the blood supply but once it is all said and done it should turn out quite well assuming you go to a good clinic.

Thanks for the reply! Well that is good to know. How much would you say that would cost, any idea? And do you have any you would suggest that aren't crazy pricing? I obviously want to make sure I choose the right one..

And would you say FUT or FUE would be the better option? I really have no clue about any of this, I never thought I would need to have it done until today.

Most of the clinics worth considering will be more expensive but the pricing is what is considered normal in the overall legitimate market. The "cheap" prices are found, with some exceptions, at clinics that have no business doing hair transplants in the first place.

Keep in mind their is a cost for the clinic just to open their doors and since your needs are very small (relatively speaking) I would imagine there to be a bigger cost associated with just walking in the door rather than what you'd pay per graft. I would imagine that a 1500 dollar base fee would be reasonable and then the charge for each graft that would be, most likely, in the 4 to 6 £, € or $ category. So if they try maybe 50 grafts as a first pass then on the high end you'd be paying less than 2,000 for the procedure. That may be enough for you to say that you're done and once the hairs grow longer you'll have eliminated the spot. With a shorter cut like you have now it may still be enough but I think that after the first pass any subsequent passes may just be an option to consider and not a requirement. I will caution that you may be attracted to clinics that advertise on their cheap price but aside from other issues, your case has a specific requirement that I highly doubt such clinics are used to dealing with. My suggestion assumes you're choosing a clinic that does one, maybe two patients a day maximum and where the doctor is giving you a lot of their attention for much of the procedure.
