QUESTION FOR HT VETS

Is it necessary to visit the clinic and speak to the doc before you have surgery or is it not necessary, thanks for all responses

It is certainly desirable if not an essential for some cases but meeting the doctor gives you the feel of the clinic to some degree and the doctor themself but also gives the doctor the chance to assess you in person and gain data that photos would not have given.

It's not necessary to see the doctor beforehand, nice if you can but not essential. As long as you are fully informed and know what to expect.The doctor will go through everything with you before the surgery and answer any last minute questions.

I don €™t think it €™s necessary but that would only be after years and years of research, reviewing the work, speaking with patients, speaking with those that worked in the industry and asking their opinion on who they think is the best and just basically putting in the time waiting and watching. For me that was about 10 years. Most simply will not put in the time and effort because they need it now so for many meeting the doctor might be a better idea.

Personally I felt like I knew Dr. Bisanga without ever meeting him in person first. And I €™m never ashamed to say the clincher for me was reading a post by a patient who had his work redone the same day by Dr. Bisanga as he was not happy with the doctor who operated on him earlier in the day at the same office. Who does this €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦to actually go against a colleague and redo his work which could very well humiliate him because your conscience will not let you do otherwise €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦..very, very rare in medicine, it just does not happen.

The biggest hurdle for me was actually getting on a plane and traveling so far which could have easily taken me a few years longer.


I think there are only a handful of doctors that do work that is so exceptional on a consistent basis that meeting them might not be necessary.


BTW what got me into trouble in the first place long ago was wanting it now and then trying to fix it now. Then I learned to just wait and keep waiting. If you can wait...........you are one step ahead of the game without a doubt.

If you are going with a world class doctor with an outstanding reputation then i would say no it's not necessary.....i never met Dr Shapiro before my surgeries but when i did he made sure i was comfortable with everything and answered all my questions.
It would be good to meet your chosen Doctor first though if just to run through your game plan and get a feel for the doctor or clinic as the guys said....but not essential.

thanks guys for all the responses, im planning to go to SMG, been delayed due to another illness in my family, been a rough year,ive researched a long time , been visiting fourms for years, still debating if I should visit the clinic or just signup for the surgery date,it is surgery and it is a decision you will have to live with the rest of your life, so I move at a snails pace

I just booked after speaking with Matt, flew over, had a 30 minute chat with the doctor and then into surgery, no regrets.

You will be fine with SMG dude...i know my case was a little different as it was a repair offer but i still just flew over without speaking to any of the docs....when i got there everyone was great.

How many grafts are you planning on SBT and on what areas? (you may have mentioned it before dude but ive forgot)

bigmac im waiting until after my dad has vascular surgery,its a 8hr surgery and the doc said its very complicated,hes having test the next two weeks, then has to see the vascular doc. so I don't have a exact time table, I have to be there for my dad, hes done everything for me, bullitnut im planning to have 3000 grafts to the front half, and if the strip yields more ill have some put into the crown,the one good thing about delaying my HT is that my hair is in better condition by being on meds and I have had some growth in my front third which is great.

within the past year my grandma has had a stroke and is paralyzed, so I helped take care of her until she had enough aids to help her, by then it was winter and we had such a bad winter I waited until spring ,by then my dad condition gotten worse, so its been delay after delay afer delay for my HT.which is frustrating but family comes first ,
