Santa’s White Beard FUE Revision: Carlos K. Wesley, M.D. (NYC & LA)

Media Mgr Dr. Carlos K. Wesley
A jolly 51-year-old man had prior transplants from another clinic that left him with a pluggy hairline and a very tight scalp. One fantastic donor hair resource that had not previously been used was his long, white beard - akin to that of Old Saint Nick. He, therefore, opted for a follicular unit extraction (FUE) session in which a total of 981 grafts were harvested from his beard and within his scalp donor region. He also requested that Dr. Carlos K. Wesley NOT shave his entire donor region for the FUE graft harvest. Therefore, a long-haired FUE session was also performed.

The patient returned one year after his procedure and images of the patient can be seen below.

The patient €™s hair follicles were incubated in platelet rich plasma (PRP) throughout the duration of the procedure.

Hair pieces aren't for me, just don't think they are good for the scalp. Will you be adding images of his hairline?

I don't like what they do to scalps too....it must be so liberating to finally ditch the hairpiece.
Would love to see some pics of the new hairline as well if you have any?
The beard area healed fantastic and very quickly and looked like nothing had been extracted in the pic at 5months ¬b`. Are there any major differences in the aftercare when beard is used for FUE donor?

Here are a few intraoperative images of this patient €™s recipient area. These help to better illustrate the surgical design used to not only soften this patient €™s hairline, but also provide a bit more hair coverage to his midscalp region.

Bilena. Do you have pictures of his transplanted hairline? His beard looks untouched.
