Shiny scalp after SMP? We got you covered.

A shiny scalp is sometimes the result of shaving down close to zero.

Light easily reflects on the scalp, especially if you have an oily skin.

A nice product (from USA) produces a mattifying effect for those that want to take out virtually all reflections (can also be used on a non pigmentated bald scalp).

Indeed, a glossy scalp can be a typical symptom of scalp micropigmentation (SMP). This is on the grounds that the scalp delivers more oil than expected after the strategy as it changes. The absence of hair to assimilate and diffuse the oil can likewise cause the scalp to seem shinier

The shine on the scalp is primarily caused by a few different things. 1. Oil Production on the Scalp: the scalp naturally produces sebum, an oily substance that can create a shiny appearance on the all scalp surface. Without hair this becomes more obvious. 2. Light Reflection: The smooth surface of the scalp, especially with no hair, tends to reflect light, leading to a shiny look. 3. Moisturizers and Products: aftercare products, such as moisturizers, can create an additional layer of shine. Some products are designed to give your scalp a matte finish, so choosing the right products is key to controlling shine. 4. Skin Texture: The natural texture and health of the skin can also contribute. Well-maintained and hydrated skin tends to be smoother and may reflect more light. 5. Excessive Sweating: people who sweat a lot may also notice increased shine, as the moisture mixed with sebum on the scalp reflects light. To best manage shine, i suggest using specialized mattifying lotions to my patients. (example: Bee Bald, Scalp Lube) These products will keep the scalp properly moisturized without overdoing it.
