Hi All,
I thought I would really try to document my progress and experience I had with Dr Arshad and his team during my hair transplant procedure and recovering from it, so I will start from the beginning.
I have had a receding hairline since the age of 14 (that’s as far as I can remember) but because slightly receding further back at 20 onwards, now being 27 and really conscious about my hairline I thought it was time to take the plunge after doing years of research from turkey, Belgium to UK.
The reason I chose The Hair Dr is because I have a friend who coincidentally had a transplant with Dr Arshad on July 2019 and having seen his results I honestly couldn’t complain and he spoke highly of them.
So I got the ball rolling and on the 9th of July was my surgery date. I was initially quoted for 1600 grafts to fill in my temporal regions (confirmed by a FaceTime consultation and pictures) but after a face to face consultation I knew I had a slightly thinning spot behind my frontal hairline which I wanted thicker so ended up paying for 2000 grafts.
On the day of the procedure I had an hour and half drive down to the clinic, I thought I would be very nervous of the procedure but I wasn’t, the clinic is very nice and very posh inside which kind of put me at ease, my biggest worry was having to shave my head but to be honest the girls in the clinic paid me a few complements saying I suit it because of my facial hair which is always a bonus
So I arrived at 8:30 and got offered a drink and then whisked off to mean Dr Arshad and discuss the hairline. After we agreed not to lower my hair line (I’ve never had a low hairline) but full in the temporal regions I was then moved to get my head shaved.
After all of the head shaving was done I was then moved into one of the transplant rooms where I began receiving my anaesthetic for my donor region. Now I’m not afraid of needles in the slightest but I will say because my skin type is very thin this did hurt a little for the first 30 seconds or so but after than you don’t feel a thing and Dr Arshad himself began removing the hair follicles. Throughout this part of the process Dr was complimenting me on the density of my donor area and was saying I will benefit from this.
Once all of the follicles where removed we then paused for dinner at about 1pm or something, I was offered absolutely anything I wanted but I chose to be plain with a Chicken mayo sandwich because I didn’t know how I would be feeling at the time lol.
Once dinner was finished then we moved into Dr Arshad creating the hairline incisions after some more anaesthetic.
Then for the rest of the procedure was having the grafts implanted back in, this begun with two technicians working on myself to do the initial frontal part of the hairline then it went down to one technician for the rest of the procedure (I’m not sure if this is normally what happens or there was a reason). The girl who mostly did the implanting herself was very nice (I’m not great with names), we seemed to have the same taste in music so we was just jamming out to kissStory for the whole of the procedure and chatting a bunch.
And then that was my day over with, on the night of the procedure I was in a little bit of pain which was expected but the next day I woke up I had zero pain, I didn’t even take any ibuprofen or paracetamol as I didn’t see the point, just my antibiotics and steroids.
I can’t think right now any more information of the day unless anyone has any questions, I’m more than happy to answer as I feel forums like these are the only way to get an accurate representation rather than seeing results on the clinics or doctors websites.
Attached is a few pictures of before, after procedure and up to today which is day 4. In the order that is shown for me, the bottom ones are day of procedure and progress from there.
