Thoughts on using smp to cover strip scar

I had 2 transplants in my early 20's and now regret it as I am not getting the coverage i was hoping for and it looks horrible. I have lost more hair as I aged (36)and it is clear that I don't have enough in donor area to make it look natural again. Has anyone here had experience getting their strip scar covered with smp and then just cutting hair real short. Thoughts and opinions would be appreciated, thanks.

How wide and long is your scar? From what I see online the SMP is required to cover the whole area, not just the scar, otherwise, it won`t blend in if you shave your hair short.
