What happens to telogen state hairs during strip harvesting?

If a patient is having a strip harvested what happens to hairs that are in a telogen state in the strip and can't be seen? Is there a way they can still be identified and used or are they completely invisible?

As far as I know it's only the hair shaft that's not visible, everything else is intact.
