Scarring from a Major Hair Transplant (4000-5000 Grafts) - Seeking Advice

Hello friends,
I'm about to undergo a major hair transplant at one of the leading clinics, involving a large number of grafts.
I'm looking for your opinions on the scarring associated with the FUT method.

How noticeable is it? What hairstyles are effective in concealing it?
How does it evolve over the years?

Any detail that can help understand what we're left with in terms of scarring post-procedure would be greatly appreciated.

FUT will produce an ear to ear long scar which can be a couple of mm wide but can be wider depending on scalp elasticity. Who are you considering? If the likes of Hasson and Wong they are perhaps the best as strip on the planet.

Hi mate I've had 1 strip hair transplants with so called top dr in new york,it stretched and got hairloss around transplant,my other strip transplant was back in 2003 it was the low scar in the pic
Again stretched
If u Need lots of hair in one go yeah strip will get u lots of grafts in in one go BUT more than likely it will stretch and u won't be able to cut short at back
My advice is have couple of fue surgery that way if it don't work out u can shave short and scars are not really noticeable at all

Could you name the surgeon? judging by the height of the longes strip I have an idea of who it is but would rather not name if I am wrong. If I am right he is a very prominent promoter of strip or at least was.

Let's just say dr f in great neck new york he ruined me with bad transplants that all stick upwards and obviously scars
I'm not here to slagged off now especially on this forum,maybe other platforms i will,im just here to help people now and point them in right direction

Yes I had a feeling the doctor began with a F. Unfortunately that is the risk with a strip no matter the doctor. You could look at FUE into it and also SMP.

Ho mate yeah strip is old fashioned now,I feel I was used as guniee pig dr f in new york is a old fashion surgeon that's why he got a younger surgeon in to boost sales.i had 350 fue into bottom scar, no growth at all, I'm done with the hair industry mate it's all bollocks believe me,I've done the lot u name it,I've realised if hairloss treatments don't work there is always something else that the hairloss industry makes u buy ie NEW PRODUCTS TOPICAL FINESTERIDE,TOPICAL MINOXIDIL ETC ETC ETC its all business mate
Not sure on your loss of hair but I advice u not to have any surgery cos it could ruin ur life u could be chasing and chasing for more and by that time u will be a old man.
Smp is not for me I reckon u get problems with that down the line
Also I've seen it on guys it looks shite but thats my opinion
Honestly mate I've heard it all in the hair industry u will never be happy with transplants even if u get a good result it will ALWAYS look unatraul in some way

Sorry to hear that, Ive been on a long 13 year journey with HTs and am at a place I am happy with along with the meds I am taking working for me. Unfortunately the industry is very unpredictable.

The FUT scar size will depend on the technique closure your HT surgeon uses and also on your own physiology - the elasticity of your donor area. Since you said you're having a large number of grafts, the wider the strip that's extracted the riskier it is to end up with a wider donor scar. Hopefully, you've been doing some donor elasticity exercises leading up to your procedure. As long as you're in expert, experienced surgeon's hands, the hairs above the scar line should cover over the scar easy enough and be able to wear any hair style. Good luck!!

I went to dr f new york who was a top surgeon??
Gave me another strip scar above my old one so I don't think fut is the way 2 go
End of the day u just don't know hoe bad the scar will be until after its done so it's a risk
Fue is better less scarring if again done in the right hands
