I echo the sentiments of almost all of the other guys opinions above.
Wishing you the best, but patience is key!

I have seen many patient results where one side is not the same as the other. It could be just the growth rates, not the same amount of grafts placed etc. What is important now is that you keep in contact with the clinic, take regular pictures but as said before, try not to worry. Then at 12 months, if there is a noticeable difference, the clinic should work with you to fix this.
Hi @Bigmac yes the clinic is aware of the situation and as expected have told me to wait it out as it's too early, they obviously said grafts are placed evenly but my eyes and current results show otherwise.

They have also said that they will fix it if does not improve, but considering my donor area and how they possibly failed to get a basic thing like this correct in the first place, I'm sceptical about returning to them...

Also, someone did mention that the circular lines in my donor area could be where they gave the anesthetic ( or too much of it?).

Has anyone heard of this?

Hi Jay.
Very understandable that you're worried about returning to the same clinic, however it is positive to hear they have offered to rectify it if it does not turn out as expected.

It's a shame the clinic is not close by you, then you could have went straight back as soon as you realised it was not correct.

Why have they taken hairs from so low, will these hairs be permanent if removed so low down the back of your head?

That's a good question. The surgeon said that they do not intend to take hairs that lower down as they are finer, but in my case, my donor area was not so great and hairs quite fine ( i naturally have fine hair), so they has to extract hair from that region.

Only time will tell if I made the right choice, although the clinic had good reviews in a FB group where there are several hundred members, so I thought I was in good hands.

Hi @Bigmac Yep, defo one of the negatives of travelling to get the op is not being able to go straight back if any issues arise.

Ok, a quick update. So I've just hit the 16 week mark, still patchy and very thin, but some improvement from last month( I've not had a haircut for over 6 weeks now). The left temple area is still not producing any hair growth.

Hair is very wispy and thin and I can count the hairs in the hairline.

Feedback appreciated guys?

Cheers!

Definite change from last month Jay. Remember, this is the very start of things so it's normal for the hair to be wispy and sparse for a while as things slowly begin take shape.

Hi @Pete from Farjo , can I still expect to see more hairs sprout through? as in if you look at the last pic of the hairline, will there be any new hairs growing in between the sparse hairline, as for now I can't see any new hairs or " dots" of potential new hair growth if i look closely at my scalp ?

Hope that makes sense.

Cheers

Yes absolutely. It doesn't all necessarily come through at the same time. You should hopefully see more hairs sprouting as time progresses. You should also notice it change in texture and thicken up over the months which will add to the final result.

@Pete from Farjo Thanks! that's good to know.

Hopefully it thickens up and the left side fills up as that area is still very patchy.

Keep going with the regular updates. As Pete says, there is an improvement. You could be just a slow grower. We all see the patients who have loads of progress very quickly but everyone is different, we all grow at different rates.

I'll tell you what I've told patients for YEARS. Don't expect a SINGLE hair to grow until sometime between three and five months. I've been consistent with this for at least sixteen years. The reason is because different people start to grow at different times. When they do, they NEVER grow consistently throughout the scalp. Some areas will sprout new hairs two months before other areas, or three months, etc. It's quite maddening, really in that you're subjecting yourself to psychological torture by trying to monitor your scalp for any new single hair that pops through!

I am stressing this because at this point, nothing you do, nothing you ask, nothing you read will change the facts about your case. You have to wait. The good news is that you look to be on track so try and have a more positive outlook. I wouldn't be saying this if I didn't believe it so I hope that helps.

Do all the transplanted hairs come through as fine hairs which get thicker over time then?

It can be a mix of finer and more coarse hairs, or more one than the other.

I will Indeed keep them up :)

Hopefully things do improve and I'm more of a slow grower compared to others.

Hi @JoeTillman

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep hoping for the best even though it is a struggle at times, not to be impatient and over analyse the hair, as it's such a huge deal to us all.

I have a question that you or anyone else maybe able to answer. I noticed while I was shedding a large majority of the hair that shed had a "kink" to them, like they were in a "L" shape. I spoke to my surgeon about this and he said we expect around " 5%" of planted hairs to be like this", but ofcourse mine were more. He told me not to stress ( as you'd expect).

From reading, I've seen it mentioned that it is not known if these hairs actually grow( something to do with how the techs planted them), whats your take on this?

Cheers!
