Low cost Fin

I decided to use 1mg Propecia from pharmica.co.uk. Cost wise it works out at 54p per day.

That would certainly make a lot of sense, Bigmac. In that case, I'd say I'm swayed by the prospect of 5mg Fin cut up into 5ths. Thanks for your help here.
For what it’s worth, I’d been cutting up Proscar 5mg tablets for 4 years and it definitely worked for me, I fully agree with Bigmac’s comments

Hi Blue52, thank you for this. I've been considering that, too - it's definitely reasonable.

Cheers,
Matt

Hey Bongo, out of curiosity, where do you buy your Proscar from and how much do you pay?

Thanks.

I had been buying it from a Dr in Derbyshire called Dr Ashcroft (recommended by David @ the Maitland Clinic). He’s retired now so that’s why I’ve just got my latest supply of Fin 1mg tablets from Pharmica online, 168 tablets for under £87, excellent service too and they did an online prescription. Thanks, Bongo

I see, that figures. Did it work out to be that much more economical cutting up Proscar? That Pharmica UK price is already pretty good.

Cheers,
Matt

If you’re looking at £400-£500 a year for Propecia then Proscar is more economical, but the Pharmica price for generic Fin means there’s probably nothing in it, and buying from them means I get the same dose everyday. Chopping up Proscar can be a little messy and make for an inconsistent dose. KR, Bongo

Hi Matt, ive only been using this new supply for a couple of weeks but I’ve not noticed any change from the previous Proscar tablets I was using. No shedding etc either. So far so good! Thanks, Bongo
Hi, how is your hair now that its been a couple of months since you switched, is it all 100% same or did you notice any changes?
thanks

Just a heads up for people looking for the lowest Cost Finasteride in the UK, while it requires a little more effort, the cheapest way by far is the method already mentioned by SHart19
For my Finasteride I simply had an online appointment with my GP who privately prescribed the 5mg version without even seeing me in person. I paid £5.50 for 28 tablets from my local pharmacy which will last 4 months (£1.38 per month)...
As he says Generic 5mg is available for around £6 a box and branded Proscar is around £19, so when quartered, gives you a years worth of generic for under £18 or £57 for a years worth of Proscar.

As discussed before it is so easy getting a private prescription. I have actually now moved over to Proscar due to research online around branded medication and it cost me £19 for 28 tablets and il probably ask for another next month to stock up for the future.

Hi, yes i have come to that conclusion as well, I swapped from Proscar, and spent along time on generic 5mg and it wasn't too dissimilar, but swapped again to 1mg generic and lost ground quite rapidly, so am back on Proscar aswell. The generics are not really worth it for only a £40 a year saving.

See if they will give you a single prescription for 84 tabs, that way you only need to contact them once a year.

Hi, Yes Dr Fox is one of the best value ''all-In-one'' Online pharmacy's for 1mg, They are still charging you over £140 a year though, for what is often just a cheaply made Indian Generic.
If you Compare that to only paying £57 a year for the Original Merck Branded Proscar with the private prescription method its not such an attractive deal.

Are you getting your private prescriptions from your family doctor?

My doctors have an online service so I made a request specifically for Proscar and they provide a prescription the same day that's sent to the pharmacy! Very easy to do but I am just hoping I will get the same results from going cheap and cutting Proscar rather than Procepia.

Thanks for confirming. I have always used 5mg and cut the pills with no issues with their effectiveness. I actually started with Proscar, then after a few years switched to Finasteride because it was cheaper and easier to access at the time.
