Excessive bleeding during FUE

I unfortunately didn’t realize flax seed was a blood thinner which caused a lot of bleeding during my FUEoperation (2200 grafts) completed yesterday. Will this affect the results of the procedure? After 1 day my recovery seems fine, but not sure if this hurts the grafts when bleeding a lot during the operation. I think it just slows the process down but wanted to make sure.

Excessive bleeding is more challenging for the team performing the surgery. Sometimes extractions can be more difficult and when placing grafts they pop back out during the surgery and have to be inserted again.
It should not affect the end result providing you’re not bleeding excessively straight after surgery.
With you not bleeding one day post op you should be fine.
Always check with the clinic if you have any concerns.

Does anyone know if there there any known foods or supplements which are known to be the opposite of blood thinners and may be useful to consume before surgery in order to minimise bleeding? I was advised to take Arnica before a previous (non HT) surgery but I think this was more to minimise bruising. Not sure if this would help before a HT.

Foods high in vitamin K will help thicken the blood. The dreaded Brussel sprout is very good and most green leaf type foods including cauliflower.

Good to know. I guess brussel sprouts do carry the risk of some unwanted CO2 emissions whilst on the surgery table

Yes, that would be a little embarrassing. Stick to other greens the days leading up to surgery.
