Help! Thinking of getting a hair transplant.

Hi everyone.

I’ve been on finasteride for a couple of years. I realise my hair isn’t bad, but I would like a transplant, to improve my hair line. I’ve been told in another forum that I’d be a good candidate ‍♂️‍♂️
How many grafts do you think I’d need? Perhaps you could give me some advice?

Hi Otis,

From the photos you have submitted you have the potential for an excellent result. However, we would recommend that you have a face to face consultation to address the areas of concern and also the suitability for a hair transplant. Without a consultation a clinician would not be able to assess your donor area character and the the chances of success of a hair transplant.

Have you thought about adding in minoxidil tablets to your medication regimen help reduce the progression of your hair loss?

Just had a zoom chat with doctor Bicer and she told me “no way do you need a transplant. Everyone is jealous of your hair”!
That knocked that on the head then!

She said I would look worse for having something done. I Feel a dick saying this but she said “you’re a handsome man and you really don’t need it”! Her words. Awkward really because I would like sone density adding! Just a little bit… I’m 38

Do you think it’s possible to have a tiny bit done? To be fair to Bicer, she was very honest. She could easily have just said “yeah, fly out. I’ll sort it”!

It looks thin in the second picture you posted. Other clinics might have a different opinion to Bicer.

Hello Otis.
You have a good hairline for being 38. It has thinned slightly which could be improved. With you being on Finasteride and not losing hair the past 4 years you seem suitable as a candidate. Hopefully, your hair loss does not progress any further. I would consult with a few clinics to see what they suggest. I’m guessing in the region of 1000-1200 grafts would make a very nice change.
You could take Dr Bicers advice and do nothing.
Keep us updated on what you decide.

Thanks for that. Yes, I was quite surprised when Dr Bicer said she wouldn’t treat me. I’m on finasteride and have been for a couple of years. Not sure what to do from here really. She implied a transplant could ruin things ‍♂️‍♂️

To be honest, I’d be happy keeping it where it is but having it fuller! I’d be worried that lowering it might look odd..?

Many here are going to say to you your hairline is fine which it is. The way you wear your hair I don´t see the issue for wanting to even do anything. If you had your hair brushed back and your hairline was exposed maybe easier to understand. But with your wavy hair and style even if you had a transplant it wouldn´t make any difference to your look.
If you were to have one, maybe you would change the style.
I’d not lower the hairline either. Just keep it where it’s at and strengthen.

That’s it, Bigmac. I currently have short hair by my standards! It’s usually long, either tied back or, back and off my face. That’s how I always have it and it’s when my thin hairline shows up. I’ve become self conscious about it so I’ve cut it short, which I don’t like!

Well, considering your age, being on Finasteride and I’d guess a good donor supply you should be good to go once you decide which clinic is best for you.

You could easily hide any work with all your remaining hair.
