It is noticed that your crown is thinning slightly, hair start to fall. So it's better to consult Hair Transplantation Doctor for reducing hair fall. So prevention is better than cure.

Sorry I haven't been on to update. The derm I seen basically confirmed that it was MPB and prescribed me an initial two month supply of 1mg Fin. I'm going to quarter them, I think, and see how I go. Anyone able to advise if this is sensible or should I increase the dosage?

Hi Scott, I suppose it's ok to do that, it's a mild dose so if you don't see any benefit you may have to I crease the dosage, let us know how you get on.

Would I be better starting at 0.5, then I would have the option to increase or reduce the dosage?

If you have concerns it's a good idea to start at that dosage, I honestly don't know how effective it will be though, you can only try.

Don't let anyone sell you anything you are unsure of, you are lucky that you live in the age of the internet and that everything can be researched, in my opinion laser is a load of crap, and in the long time I have been researching bloody hair, I've seen nothing to prove to me that it's any good. The only proven treatments are Propecia/finasteride/Proscar and Regaine/Rogaine/Minoxidil and obviously hair transplants, but you should think long and hard before going down the ht route.

Just another update to this. Started taking Fin just over two weeks ago. I alternate between 0.5mg and 1mg a day and happy to report no worrying sides thus far. Shedding is continuing, possibly slightly heavier than before and hair is just as weak, if not weaker.

In it for the long haul, though, so not expecting any dramatic improvements.

Will continue to update as and when I can.

Scott,

Propecia at 0.5mg a day is shown to be effective or taking 1mg every other day. Even a lower dosage will help to protect your hair most of the time. Good luck with it but expect to wait at least 6 months until any improvement might be seen.
