Am I receding?

I am a little worried, because I noticed that my hair goes back a little at the temples. But I am not sure if it is a sign of receding hair or not, because at age around 16-17 I have lost a little more hair than ever before. It didn't take long until I had a widow's peak. At age 18 the hair loss stopped and nothing happened since then (I am 21 years old now). I still have a widow's peak but haven't lost more hair than usual. In fact I would actually say that I have a lot of hair, there are no signs of recession on other parts of the scalp.
Here are 3 pics, the first one being my hair around 15 years of age before anything has ever happened, the second one being one age 19 and the third one is a recent picture

What do you think, do I have receding hair? Should I do something against it or not?

It's hard to tell from the photos that you've posted. I would need to see your head titled forward with the hair pulled back. To be honest, you're probably a better judge of the matter yourself.

stopped and nothing happened since then
Perhaps that is as far as things will go, and you'll maintain what you have for the rest of your days, or maybe it'll start up again at a later date. Lacking a crystal ball, there's no way of knowing for sure.

Should I do something against it or not?
That's entirely your call. If you're worried about losing hair, and want to maintain what you have, you could consider finasteride. A small number of people see some regrowth, but the non-surgical options are really about prevention. Alternatively, if you're not fussed, you don't have to do anything. As I said, it's entirely up to you. All the best.

On the basis of these photos, I'd say that your hair looks fine. However, keep an eye on it, and if you notice that you're starting to lose hair, then finasteride is an option. All the best.

In the first picture that you shared i.e of 15 years of age, your hairline seems fine. But if I see the rest two pictures and also the recent picture, you seem to have a receding hairline from the frontal edges. Besides genes, one major reason for this is when DHT attacks hair follicles and destroys them. You can consider using DHT blockers for this.

But still, if you're unsure whether you should do something about this or not, then please visit a trichologist near you. They'll be better able to assess your condition. And also I would recommend using a holistic and more natural approach to your hair care.

Thank you for your advice.
I wanted to add, that the oldest picture is kind of a placeholder for "this was my juvenile hairline". I thought that maybe one reason for my recession in the temple areas could be, that I had this widow's peak like hairline (Maybe there is a better word for that?) also in my childhood.
Since I can remember I had this peak in the middle of my forehead and curves at the temple areas, maybe that is an explanation why my hair goes back further in this regions?

As I said, you're probably a better judge of the matter yourself, since you're familiar with the entire history of your own hairline. As I see it, there's really only two issues.

(1) Do you think that you're losing hair now and is it a worry? If so, then consider taking finasteride.

(2) Are you happy with your present hairline? If so, then great, as you'll save yourself a great deal of hassle and heartache. A lot of us (sadly myself included) are utterly neurotic about hair loss and achieve little other than to make ourselves miserable. If you're unhappy with your present state, I still think that your best bet is finasteride to begin with, then reassess in 6-12 months time.

All the best whatever you decide to do.

Anyone who wants to compare their 15 year old hairline to their 21 year old one should realistically see the temples going back slightly. this would be classed as a mature hairline.

If the recession in the corners is worse than slight then it could be starting to receed

from your front on pics it looks ok. The one you posted of a side view does look like the corners are deep so the widows peak is lower than perhaps what a mature hairline would be

If you want to keep your hair and dont mind being on finasteride then I would suggest taking a pill a day and then not worry as your hair shouldnt get any worse for quite a while if you do

Honestly mine was like this too and yea it seems like you are. I started With this topical thing my friend out me on to and it was insane. It stopped the hairloss and like new baby hairs started growing it’s called Toshie hair serum. Highly recommend

Thank you for all your advice.
Since I have posted this Thread, as expected, nothing changed. I have visited a dermatologist who said, that currently there is no reason to be concerned, since I do not lose more hair than usual, he said that it may start again later or will stay like this.
I have looked around and stumbled across the brand moerie, that offers hair growth products(mainly for women but who cares).
Here a link to the site: (can't attach a link, but it's moerie**dot**com)
Do you think, that using these products (especially shampoo and spray) would help against my widows peak and thin hair at the temples, or is it just another "scam"? Since I do not know anything about the contents and their influence on the hair and scalp, it's rather difficult for me to determine that.
I also heard that probably regaine or similar products would help, but the price is pretty high and I would have to use it forever since if you stop everything goes away again. So I'm not a big fan of this solution.

Thank you for your advice

I'm afraid that what you're looking for -- a magical potion, which you drink once and it permanently reverses all signs of hair loss -- doesn't exist at present. Perhaps someday science will invent one. In the meantime, any non-surgical option that you choose, assuming that it's effective, will require a lifetime commitment in order to remain so. I know that this may seem like a discouraging hurdle, but it's not necessarily as bad as you think. Finasteride, in particular, is easily incorporated into a daily routine (you pop a pill in the morning and you're good to go.) Regarding price, I don't know your financial situation, so I can only speak from personal experience. Finasteride costs me about a £1 per day. This is money that I could easily fritter away on junk -- chocolate bars, crisps, etc. -- and so I simply cut back on these things. I hope that this helps. All the best.
