Wylie, I agree may Thomas roast in hell with a few other doctors I can think of.

I would say that I mostly regret my ht. It has been a life long burden and has completely changed the course of my life. Even with today's technology, doctors need to be very careful when working with younger men as their expectations are too high, where older men are just happy with a little more hair. Doctors need to fully explain the numbers game better. You are taking a head with 100,000 hairs, half of which might be gone, then takng about 40% of the balance of say 50,000 and trying to redistribute it in an area that had originally about 50,000 hairs. So that gives you 20,000 hairs where the was 50,000 if all goes well. That is a hair transplant, if you can be happy with that then go for it. If you want that thick full head of hair you had when you were 20, then forget about it.

What I don't regret is learning just how corrupt industry can be, including the medical industry. It has saved me much grief in that area as I look around as see what is happening to others. They take the doctor's word as gospel. They think the pharmacuetical and surgical approach to health is completely normal and they pay a high price for that belief. It's too bad, but it's all about the money.

I would also make sure the clinic you choose does not just have good results, but places a high value on ethics. It's can be as simple as speaking to as many patients and potential patients as possible. It doesn't even have to be in person, through e-mail and on the phone works very well. My own personal experience has been that this is when people are the most truthful. The forums are a good start but you really can't get at the truth from reading and posting. I almost went to a few repair doctors here in the USA, but after I spoke to several patients of those same doctors, I'm glad I didn't. So I guess my best piece of advice would be to get on the phone and start talking to people.

Actually I was half joking about agreeing with the roast in hell comment. I really don't harbor any bad feelings towards any of the doctors that helped put me in my present position. I'm not sure why, but I guess I look more towards the future which makes me a little better off. But I always do wonder why the first doctor, if you want to call him that, Dr. Puig put those unsightly giant plugs into a slightly thinning hairline of a navie 23 year old. It's just very hard to understand, why someone would do that. Is the money really that important? I can't imagine doing something like that to someone, I just have too much of a conscience. That's why it's so important to find a doctor that has high morals and values, because it matters.

I am very hopeful at this point with the test on all the body and beard hair that I had placed. It's all growing and very well.

Of course I regret my HT, as it turned out poorly and the doctor (The late Robert Thomas, may he roast in Hell) was the Bernie Madoff of doctors.

But I often wonder: What if I had of waited? I likely still would have done this even if I waited, and if it turned out perfect?

I think I'd still regret it. As long as you are absolutely certain that you dont plan on just shaving your head someday, I'd recommend a HT to the right candidate who chooses the right doctor.

However, if you change your mind and want to shave your head someday, forget about it. Even with FUE there is no guarantee the donor site will not be obvious.

Just make sure you ask yourself all the right questions, and then do the same with whatever doctor you decide to go with. If you dont like the answers you get, don't do it, or go somewhere else. Get plenty of opinions as well.
Hello, sir. I also regret having my hair transplant by Dr. Robert Thomas. The results were so bad that I had no choice but to wear a hair system. I’ve been wearing it ever since. It was that snake oil salesman he had that sold me on nothing but lies! I hope the salesman burns in hell as much as Robert Thomas. That SOB knew exactly what to say to me. I lived with nothing but shame ever since.
Twenty-two years later, I want to sport a bald head but the pitting is too terrible. How have you dealt with your bad hair transplants?

I deeply regret my transplants
1st was 2003 in uk
2nd and 3rd 2008 and 2010 top surgeon in great neck new york
I think about my hair more than i did before i had any surgery
If u are just baldin on the crown a transplant is good to just fill it slightly
But my opinion if u have a transplant at the front ie create a hairline it will always look off, meaning u will never get the density u want as ur own hair, however how many transplants u have
Ive had 3 transplants at the front, all i had was a receding hairline and im still not happy
Its all about how u style it and even then, i wouldn't say it looks unatraul, just off thats all
But things keep getting better, well i was told that in 2008 ??
