In respect to Concealor usage it could be considered a doubled edge sword. Its quite true that one day you just wont have enough hair to attach to. And it is very addictive.
As Topcat suggests less is best, a modest appearance improvement works wonders for the individual.
But what im trying to grasp is that it allows the user breathing space. A chance to research various options and not to mention it will improve the confidence of the individual in social circumstances.
If it was not for a certain HT Doctor (who does not have the best reputation) reccommending concealor to me, I would almost certainly have had a HT that would not have been in my best long term interests. That day I first put Concealor on my hair changed my life completely ( I have only ever used a small amount). It improved my confidence, I was never lacking confidence through hairloss, but I would rather have it than not.
Throughout my years of being on various Hairloss websites (different usernames) I have seen many young 20something men, having large FUE/Strip procedures to restore their temples and using up a large number of donor grafts in the process. The HT Clinics display their results and a chorus of comments are made from other Forum Members congratulating them on the results. True, the results look damn impressive but they are not in the long term interests of the young patient. I even got banned from a couple of forums for commenting that the young man has used up 2500grafts on his temples and probably only has a maximum of 3000 grafts left for the rest of his head.
So why does this relate to Concealor usage. Using concealors buys time. By delaying a hair transplant by five years can make that young man realise that having hair in the temples is not necessary to such an extent. Hairstyles can be adapted that take away the need for hair in the immediate temporal areas. Everyones taste in hairstyles varies. Having a NW1-2 hairline is not so important when you are in your 30s. Some temporal recession looks good and age related in your 30s. My hair for example stll retains its hairline less the temples. Because of this I can style my hair in such a way that with only a little concealor to the averageperson in the street I do not have a hairloss problem. Thats good for me but that may not have been the case if 15years ago I went ahead and did something that I would later regret.
This Industry needs so much researching to understand how it works. Researching needs time. The longer time you allow yourself to consider your options the best placed you will be to make a good informed decision.
Those young guys who had large amounts of grafts placed in their temporal areas never used their time wisely. Look at the forum posters who advised these young men to have that FUE or Strip procedure and correlate your answers. Look at the large amount of men in their 30s-40swho have shaved heads with strip scars. You will see a few on SMP forums. Why do they have strip scars and shaved heads? Just maybe it was because they once made a bad decision.
