What`s the average amount of grafts that can be safely harvested from the face and neck? Would it also be possible to have a double chin excised out? Then use the grafts for transplant and rid yourself of the excess chin in the process.

The scar should be under the chin like a chin tuck imo, interesting as lots of guys could benefit from this.

An idea like this seems so simple and it's good to bring up and point out. That is in fact what has caused many in the past make some poor decisions.............it all seems so simple.

I'm sure extracting a strip from chin/throat area is filled with complications that one can't even imagine. It's only when the complications are presented as possibilities does one hesitate and say...............hmmmm..............okay I didn't think about that..............and I'm sure that it would apply to trying something like this.

Always go with what has been proven to work and has a large body of evidence and has been backed up by actual patients.

I have noticed a poster on another forum that was in a way promoting a new fue type extraction device over the summer. He seems to be working with that forum and he is all excited about trying this device with having zero experience in hair transplantation. In my opinion he seems to be an amateur at trying to create this buzz which is what it is.........creating buzz so that others are tempted..........it all becomes a big game. Some of these guys have become very sloppy and I will blame that on the money being too easy. Reminds me of the drug dealers that would come into the club with shopping bags filled with cash.................that got so sloppy and it did not end well for them.

That is not what is happening here but the same would apply. I would not encourage extracting a strip from the throat/chin area it's a bad idea long term............just my opinion though................others might be okay with doing this.

My view is if someone has decided to have a chin tuck and they are losing hair it's a shame to waste the donor. Maybe if a reputable surgeon who is good at both procedures could pull this off.
I've not heard of anyone having this done but like any other procedure someone has to pioneer it.

I believe I have seen it done and posted to the forums but it was so long ago and the details are hazy but I am fairly certain it has been done.

Sure I get what you are saying BM.

My view would be to lose the extra bodyweight it's better off in the long run and then just have the beard hair extracted by fue. Will it be harder to lose the weight and will the whole process take longer.................yes...............but in the long run I think it's a better idea.

I always think of those that have had eyelid surgery and then can no longer close their eyelids as too much was excised. It would have been better in the long run to lose weight and lay off the sodium. It just seems drastic surgeriers are very risky and I speak from my own experience and not really being fully informed of the downsides which often seems to be the case when selling them.............so of course I do take it personally sometimes.................no offense to anyone is meant.

I agree losing weight is the best option but what if someone has that fat saggy skin after losing weight or they just can't shift the double chin. Surgery might be their only option and it would be a waste to throw the grafts away if they could be used.

Well I did see someone who lost about 200 lbs and skin removal on the body in that case would have been a good thing.....................so I get your point.

I have found the average donor will be approximately 2 - 4000 grafts on an average beard. The excision of the strip from under the chin is something I need to research more.

There is no average donor for the beard area. Only a doctor that does this type of work day in and day out and receives some feedback on what your expectations are and what compromises you are willing to make can give you a number.

That number could very well be zero.

This is a good idea but only a good hair doctor give you the exact answer of this. I think scars appear on your chin. If more hairs are harvest from your chin.
