This picture I took probably 7 years ago. It shows a patient that had advanced hair loss in his frontal 1/3. I compared his frontal 1/3 with his donor region.

It really shows how the natural 1's, 2's, and 3's within follicular units differ in caliber.

Hairloss is not a hair "just" falling out. It is a systematic reduction in the coarseness of follicles followed by completely falling out.

In the miniturised pic the hair groupings are low,if a person was a good responder to medication would the existing hair in the fu just get stronger or would the lost hairs in fu grow back beacause the fu is responding to med after all, say a 1 haired fu becomes a 3 hair fu again?I know meds dont generally regrow but i thought this was for entire dead fu's?i hope im making sense..

Miniaturization is only reversible by meds I gather? If a patient has this hair in the donor region, would a clinic be prepared to use it if the meds were working?

Yes, we'd use it regardless as we wouldn't throw any hairs out. However, we'd definitely encourage these patients to get on the meds to reverse the miniaturized hairs.

@ Mars... In my opinion... Yes the medications such as finasteride could potentially reverse the miniaturization and coarseness could return. However if the follicles have been jetison after progressive miniaturization then more than likely it will not return.
