Do hair transplants work then?
I am considering a HT, if I got one it would be purely for myself.

Hi BM,
Just jumping across from the other thread.
Hopefully we encouraged a few young guys to shave their heads and move on with more important things in their lives.
Unfortunately if we did I doubt they will be back on here to let us know.
I think its important to acknowledge the good work this forum in particular and the contribution of regular experienced posters gives to guys coming here feeling the weight of the world on them due to hair loss. I'm sure many lives have been saved by the support given to guys who come here at a very low ebb.
Absolutely spot on. I would wager it would be much higher than 10%. The reality seems to be, if you are predisposed to hair 'loss', then it will continue to a greater or lesser extent as long as we breath air.I personally think We should recommend younger MPBers shave their heads at least once before deciding to go for a HT. I would guess that probably at least 1 in 10 would probably grow to like the look after the initial shock.

It's about predicting future loss and the extent of this among other things because we are talking about how our hair will look if we redistribute some via FUE , DHI etc if we go the HT route. We weigh up the factors involved such as money, inevitable scarring, hassle, against the anticipated results and decide if this the best route. Being that most people have enough donor hair for 2 credible procedures in their life, then it is viable to some, depending on age and stage. Whether it's advisable may be another question.
It doesn't seem ethical at all to offer this to a rapidly losing NW3-4 under 25. If it's unethical for these, some would argue, it's unethical or unadvisable for everyone.
