Hi Tazza.
Your hair does look thin above your ears which could be retrograde alopecia. I see on the picture it was taken nearly 2 years ago. How does your hair look now?
How old are you?
Do you have any pictures from 5 years ago to compare?
It looks like you might have some temple recession. Are you on a hair loss prevention regimen?

Hi Bigmac, thank you for your reply.

I'm 30 this year and not currently taking any medications. I'm reluctant to take Finestaride.

Here is recent pictures from last week:

As you can see, I usually have short fade hairstyles on the sides. I originally presumed the hair may be growing in like that due to this. Then I saw a thread on another forum which mentioned the renegade alopecia and had a look back at those old pictures when the hair wasn't so short at the sides.

My temple/hairline has definitely recessed since NW1 at 16. However, I think that loss has been relatively stable since around 23. Here is a picture of me at 23 and you can see the hairline shape back then.

I cover that recession up by having my hair longer on top.

I was considering a transplant to fill those areas in, however if I have retrograde alopecia then I've read this may effect the transplant?

The only way to know for sure is having a face to face consult with a doctor who will examine your hair/scalp and let you know.

Retrograde Alopecia does not necessarily mean no HT. It could be confined to those areas, the main donor area could be ok. Getting examined is the only way of knowing.

No expert but I don't reckon you need a transplant at this stage, your hair looks great.
