Now at the 15 day mark.
Bit of pinkness in recipient site, scar very neat so far.

I am wondering why you chose FUT over FUE though as you appear to have an excellent head of hair in the donor area?

Purely cost to be honest, plus I never shave my head so having a fine scar isn't an issue. Its just over 2 weeks now and I can't even feel the scar to touch.
I will probably do FUE to add some additional density in the future.

Thanks Jay, hadn't thought of the cost element - guess with FUT in decline I was just interested in what pushed you in that direction.

As you suggest, it does at least leave you with full density of the donor area in hand for future FUE tweaks as required.

FUE is double the cost.
I think most people would prefer FUE, and I certainly did, I was set on it for a long while. It was only after speaking about it at length with people that I realised that FUT was the way for me. I say it was purely cost driven, but having thought about it, it wasnt the only factor. I could have got the money for FUE if I had really wanted to go that way.
After doing it, I'd do FUT again in a heartbeat, its high yield (hopefully) and as you say, leaves full density in donor region.
I just went with a first class doctor, and so far everything had been a breeze.
I will probably do FUE in my next one if its a low number required, purely on recovery time, as I wont have as long off work next time.

I would not say Fut is in decline but dont want this thread to go off topic.

Hopefully JW your scar will be near invisible once fully healed, seen some excellent donor closures from your doctor.

Just a quick update.
All going nicely, scar just a pencil line now and hard to even detect.
One small area of shock on the scar, but nothing major at all.

I've got a few new hairs poking through on the recipient area, start of some stubble, only maybe 7 hairs or so, but nice to see nonetheless.

A few pimples appearing on the recipient areas, so am I right in thinking hairs are starting to come through there?
I know its very early days.

Your forehead shape and hairloss is very similar to mine and it wll be very interesting to see some pics over the next few months. Sounds like it's going well for you, sure it'll look great.

Just a quick update on this. Im now at just over 3 months and have seen some good growth coming through. One side has been much quicker in growing than the other so far, but Im sure it will all even out.
I will get some pictures up at the 4 month mark, as Im away from home at the moment.

Good to hear you are seeing early growth, lots of patients do experience different growth rates which should even out over time.

4 months in now.
Its hard to appreciate the growth via these pictures, as my hair is coming through very blonde.
Very happy so far, and early days.


The recipient area looks quite red here, it still has some residual redness, but I'd just stepped out of the shower, here.
