Hi Everyone,

I figured I'd post my story on here, as hair loss can undermine your confidence and self esteem.

I started loosing my hair at 17. Whilst my hair has always been on the thicker side, I developed a deeply receded hairline. Through styling I managed to conceal it but I'm sure everyone here understands that wind, rain or an open car window expose it.

At 25, I decided that I was either going to shave my head completely (not something that I feel would ever suit me) or look into transplants and medication.

I genuinely felt that I was fighting a loosing battle!

My first port of call was Finasteride. I cannot stress how amazing this medication has been. Please don't be scared to try it - it just might change your life.

I spent a long time considering clinics. Many people go abroad, but I worried about the level of aftercare and support following the procedure. A UK surgeon would be far more accessible; that was important to me.

After much research, I was referred to Dr Mittal. He had fantastic reviews and was genuinely passionate about his work. His results can be seen on the internet and they are admirable.

He is also a very honest surgeon who, before offering a transplant, ensures that patients are good candidates for the surgery and present realistic expectations about the outcomes. He can't turn you from Jeff Bezos to Elvis Presley! I personally found this to be very reassuring; he explained that poor results are normally the result of patients being given surgery that they are not good candidates for.

I was nervous for the day of the surgery (who wouldn't be!) but Dr Mittal put me immediately at ease. He is both fantastically professional and a genuinely funny person. I felt comfortable the entire way through the procedure. His assistants even put on a film (of your choice) to keep you occupied!

The worst part of the day was actually walking through central Manchester post transplant (I did get a few strange looks). There's always the paranoia of dislodging grafts in the days following the surgery, but Dr Mittal gave me instructions to follow and I can say that I never ran into any problems at all!

I have attached some pictures below:

Please note that, in this last picture, the stylist did use thinning scissors a few weeks back as my hair grows extremely thick and becomes very difficult for me to manage (always been that way since a child).

Month 6 was before I had it styled so you can see how thick it gets (and finasteride has absolutely contributed).

Seriously, I cannot cannot stress the important of finasteride more. It really is a key part of the result.

Thank you Dr Mittal!

Losing your hair at a young age is tough and can really effect your confidence. Being able to wait until you’re older before having a HT is the best option. Trying out the various non surgical options which you did with Finasteride. I’m pleased its working well for you. Your hairline is looking good and has transformed your appearance.
Thanks for sharing your story.
