Why did the doc use artas? I don't believe I've seen that in a smg post before.

6 months in looks fantastic already, a conservative amount of grafts used as well looks like he got maximum Yield , patient must be chuffed to bits , thanks for posting as always

I have no reason to doubt the ability of SMG and I believe they're the best in the US, but could you comment on why the doctors got an ARTAS machine?
Honestly, it looks like the average hair transplant docs all ran out and got some type of FUE machine as soon as they could, while many of the finer clinics like the ones on this site use manual tools. I guess I see the automation in the machine being used as a crutch for clinics with weak-okay results. That said, the example above looks no different from other high quality SMG results so it really may not matter what equipment a capable staff uses.

You are right in assuming that the Artas is merely another tool for extracting grafts. We are only going to use it when a patient is ideal for it. There are many variables when it comes to extracting and we're just looking for the best and safest way possible to harvest the grafts. Our FUE protocol is different than all other clinics - not to say one is better over another - it's just what works for us.
Frankly, I was a little surprised when the Artas was first aquired too but Dr. Shapiro explained that the company who makes the Artas has made great strides in improving the robot in just few short years and their plans to continueously improve into the future was a big enticement.
