This is an excellent result so far. I am happy for you and you must be over the moon with the change already.

The Shapiro clinic deserve a lot of credit for a top result here.

Seems to be filling in nicely! Hopefully the hairline gets a little more density. Looking at your post-op photos it looks like SMG packed the front pretty well - hopefully those current gaps and stray hairs at the front won't be there for long! I've always been curious how much more density one can expect after 6-7 months. You did mention there hasn't been much change since month 6.. Maybe Janna can speak to this - is the rest just thickening of the existing hairs or will there be more growth? We hear numbers like "60% at 6 months" but does that mean 40% more growth or does it mean that the remaining 40% is just thickening of what's already come in?

With FUE, it seems like a whole new set of timelines than what we're used to with strip results. The results seem lagging compared to strip results from our experience. Although, with implementation of few protocol changes with SMG's FUE technique, the timelines are getting more like strip procedures.

There is a general guideline for results at certain benchmarks, however, there is deviations to this. When we notice a patient is a fast grower, their results are pretty much complete by month 9 or 10. It's difficult to see changes as it's more subtle. With fast growers, there is still more thickening to appear after the 6 months mark, but at a guess, they're probably at 70 to 80% by then. If a patient is an average speed grower, than by 6 months mark, they'd be around 50-60% of their results. It's hard to appreciate the subtle changes between one month to the next. If you didn't look everyday or even every month, you'd be able to see much more of a difference . It really is similar to watching grass grow- before you know it, it's time to mow.

Hi Janna,

Well done to your clinic on another excellent result.

With respect to Karmenelec's question, can you clarify if beyond 6 months post op a patient irrespective of the technique used can expect new growth? i.e. new hairs and not solely the thickening of existing transplanted hairs.

With regards to strip vs FUE my clinic also told me in advance that FUE growth seemed to take longer in a lot of cases.

Thanks

Hi Martinvain,

I'm sorry I missed your question.
Yes, for most patients they should expect new hair growth beyond 6 months mark. It's not just thickening and maturing of the newly grown hairs. Of course there may be an exception to this but that's more rare from results I've seen over the years.

Month #8 and time has really flown by. I €™m still feeling some stubble in the hairline which I know means there are still some more tiny hair growing out. When I pull my hair back I can see these tiny hairs and they €™ve got to be the slowest growing ever! I €™m really pleased and extremely happy by the progress so far. See you next month!
