Europe's first FUE and SMP combined into a single treatment

Prohairclinic

Prohairclinic Scalp Micro Pigmentation
Prohairclinic is probably the first hair transplantation clinic in Europe (possibly worldwide) to incorporate both FUE and SMP into a single treatment.

This patient wanted to have a nice looking hair restoration covering the entire balding head.
However it would take too many grafts to accomplish all in one single FUE treatment.
Therefore we offered to treat zone 1-2-3 using 3000 grafts over a 2 day Period.
Each day we performed 1500 grafts, which usually finishes at around 15:00 at our clinic, after which an SMP session was performed for the crown area (zone 4).

The patient has many options for the future:
  • More FUE hair transplants to cover zone 4[/*]
  • Keep his hair short[/*]
  • Perform additional SMP into the transplanted area €™s to add more illusion of density.[/*]

Prohairclinic facts:
  • Europe first FUE only clinic since 2004[/*]
  • Manual extraction procedure, manual implantation. Our aim is quality, not speed.[/*]
  • One of the first clinics worldwide to offer HD video of before and after results[/*]
  • First hair restoration clinic in Europe to offer safe alternative to Finasteride[/*]
  • On of the First Hair restoration clinic in Europe that is using Tricopigmentation for €˜shaven look €™ or density enhancement[/*]
  • Located at the heart of Europe we are very easy to reach by car, train or plane[/*]
  • Most main languages are spoken : English, French, German, Dutch[/*]

I have come across a number of clinics who offer this double procedure, the Smp certainly looks good combined with Fue.

Thanks Fred for the nice comment about our result.

However on your comment about the Alternative to Finasteride you may want to add that this is YOUR opinion, which is not shared by many who have seen scientific data presentations.

Hi Padman

As "alternative" it depends how you define that word. For me personally it doesn't mean something as powerful and effective, but simply another option as Tea is an alternative hot drink to those who may not like coffee to give a crude example and has less caffeine, tastes differently but is an alternative hot drink but not the same.

There are supplements and herbs that some use for DHT blocking, they often work differently in the mechanism but anything that blocks DHT conversion can still give side effects as DHT has definite purpose and function in the body and I had sides when on Proscar (5mg tablet that I cut into 5 x 1mg and back in 1998), I lost some body hair when on it as an example.

I went onto Saw Palmetto and on a certain dosage has typical side effects that some have on Propecia.

I don't think you need to give up per se if Finasteride isn't for you, but look at other options that may work, albeit differently. They may or may not work for you and i'v seen studies on identical twins on the same supplements with differing results, so we are all individuals but don't expect the same data out there for herbs or supplements that medication will have as trials and tests are very expensive and revenue is needed for them.

Hi Si,
Thanks for the response - although useful message, I originally meant that for Pro Hair Clinic, who said that they have the safe alternative to Finasteride, which I now see is Keratene Alphactive Retard?
What do you think of this?
I read what Keratene have published on it...if this really is true, then how is this not a better known product?

Hi Padman

From presentations the theory is it works very differently to Finasteride, and especially in how Estradiol levels are raised and saw a presentation recently at a European FUE meeting by Marc Costin of hairclinics.

They themselves said it will work for some and not all and does have a very different mechanism to Finasteride. It is a supplement and not medication and still fairly new and especially when comparing to known medications.

I know some patients on it and they said that although early it was encouraging for them and I know one or two who didn't feel it was of benefit and this is to be expected and same could be said for a host of supplements.

Prohair will probably be able to give more insight and share feedback from patients on the supplement. I can't speak for the marketing aspect of it but only say it is becoming more known but like anything data takes time to collate and trials needed and it I think it will become more popular in time.

As said may not be for everyone but worth speaking to Prohair for any information they may be able to share and indeed Marc from hairclinics has access to the data so far on the product so could also be an avenue of investigation just from a how it works point of view.

I have asked patients I know on it to keep me updated and will pass on anything I get personally in terms of feedback.

Just out of curiosity I did review the website for Keratene as the subject material is of interest to me and it explains it very well. It works the same way for any supplement regardless of the condition it may help. Absolutely no one is allowed to make any claim that a supplement actually causes any type of physiological change in the body. If they were to do that it would make it a drug an unapproved drug which requires billions of dollars to test and bring to market. The best they can do is just hint around without really stating anything and it is up to the consumer to figure out if it works or not or rely on trusted sources such as friends who have had experiences they like to share.

I don €™t use the product but I do feel strongly about the issue and that is why I have commented here. When industries and groups in general are able to consolidate power over time they tend to control their interests by becoming stronger and keeping others out, politics, medicine, technology, etc. This is why in fact it is often extremely difficult to determine truth and it sometimes can become a very long drawn out process which often requires a little luck. Being at the right place at the right time exposed to the correct information.

Ok thanks Si.
Perhaps ProHairClinic can shed some light into what results their patients are seeing from KAR ?
Do you offer it as a replacement to Propecia for stabilising when having hair surgery?
Are any other hair clinics offering this?
I've been looking around the net / forums, and there's are many people saying it's garbage. Whereas it does have 2 tests conducted on DHT levels that appear to show it does indeed lower DHT.
I'm amazed that if this drug is for real, then so little is known about it?

We don't offer it as of yet but tell people what they may wish to look into it as well as other supplements and herbs and make up their own minds and often point them to their own GP or health care provider, pharmacist etc who may be able to assist them with their options.

Anything either medication, supplementation or herbal can have side effects so need to ideally see their own GP who has their own medical history and see if suitable for that person.

The lesser known supplements or herbs are harder for doctors to advise on per se so at times the patient will need to make the decision for themselves as their GP may not really have the information needed.

The internet is such that there is often conflicting information even on simple matters let alone hair related so it will come down to you researching and making up your own mind as to what you may or may not wish to take.

I am sure Prohair and also Marc as mentioned will be able to give further from their own experiences.

I think Padman was referring to the capsule not shampoo.

I €™m sure there are natural products that both raise and lower DHT €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦.. I know without a doubt I can both raise and lower my testosterone and growth hormone levels at will just by what I do physically and what I consume in the way of food so why would DHT be any different the same could be said about something as simple as serotonin when it comes to depression. I can drastically lower my serotonin levels by what I consume and I €™m am very aware of it when it does happen.

Just this past week I competed in a state powerlifting meet. I weighed in last Saturday at 161 lbs and 7 days later I weighed 181 lbs. I didn €™t weigh myself the day of the meet which was that next day on Sunday but I €™m sure it was at least 171 lbs which gives me a slight advantage. How is this possible? It wasn €™t fat it was protein synthesis and glycogen replenishment. My testosterone level I €™m sure was through the roof and I €™m completely natural. It comes down to having some knowledge about what works and why €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦but here is the catch if you try and sell that information you have a good chance of being sued or criminally charged especially when you start tying it to a natural product or start making claims about food.

This is just the way the system works. Look at how Tryptophan was pulled off the market back in the late 70 €™s and kept off the market for such a long time. Because it actually works at raising serotonin levels but that hurts those that sell drugs and they control that industry.

One really has to do their own research and figure it out on their own.

BTW I like Prohair's bullet point number 2..............quality and not speed ;)

To make it simple there is a greater amount of accumulated evidence over hundreds and hundreds of years that eastern medicine is often vastly superior to western medicine which has only been around for about 100 years. But which system generates the most revenue? That is the system that controls the information and the industry. Having natural substances work is anti western medicine so western medicine will always be working towards keeping that boot on the neck of eastern medicine. Part of the strategy is keeping the medical establishment inline and controlled. Suggesting natural products is forboden.
