Finasteride accelerated hair loss!

Just as the title says; Finasteride has had an adverse effect. Rather than preventing hair loss it's actually increased it. Not just a shed, it's thinning out like crazy. I've had to stop taking it. It's freaking me out right now. Does anyone know if my hair will grow back?

For some guys, Finasteride will speed up the hair loss progress. Usually these hairs are permantly lost.
You may want to try Saw Palmetto, it's milder and lots of people claim it works for them.

I wish I'd known before this happened. Thanks for the heads up on Saw Palmetto, I'll do some reading of patient reviews.

What period of time did you use it? Maybe the shedding was a sign it was working.

It can be a good sign that the medication is working as it is supposed to that the hairs will enter a shedding stage and hopefully grow back stronger. A number of patients will have a shed when starting both Propecia and Regaine unfortunately a good % of them like you stop because they freak out that it is causing more hair loss.

You need to give it 6 months to make any kind of judgement, some patients see improvements before some take longer but 6 months is an average.

Your hair should grow back without taking the meds, how long did you take it for?

I echo what David has said.

When I first started using Finasteride I had an almighty shed after about 2months that lasted for several weeks. I persevered and after 6-8months friends and family were commenting that my hair looked thicker.
