Finasteride and protein shakes

Hi all, quick question: anyone used protein shakes after HT and if so what were the effects?

I'm on Loniten and Regaine so want to ensure I'm not minimising their effects by taking too much protein.

Any advice welcome. Thanks, GP

Hi Gareth. I don’t think they will have any effect. Is it the help hair protein or something else?

Hi, no, it's just a general protein shake.

Just a bit concerned the protein will override the effects of the finasteride.

There shouldn’t be any impact at all.

The only thing to be slightly weary of is that some studies have shown that creatine can increase levels of DHT (which is what you’re trying to reduce with finasteride).

Some products designed to increase muscle mass include protein and creatine together, so if you’re worried about this, make sure you’re taking plain old whey protein - it shouldn’t hinder your hair growth at all, as far as I’m aware.

From what is understood about protein shakes it is unlikely to cause hair loss. However it is understood that people who weight train tend to have a higher level of testosterone. Ultimately this can get converted to DHT and subsequently lead to hair loss.
Remember it is not just DHT that causes hair loss but also a generic pre-disposition.
Other things to be mindful of is ensuring your body is balanced with the correct minerals and vitamins.
A deficiency in Vitamin D or Iron can also cause hair loss
