I think if they manage to engineer the unit with the ability to use smaller punches it might be acceptable but then the yield would need to be determined. In the meantime anyone using a 1mm or larger punch on the back of some young guy's head knows very well they are causing extensive damage and that would make them a complete scumbag in my mind.

Sometimes money is all that matters so if you are a prospective patient you better start waking up to this fact.

I don €™t think that a 1mm punch causes any damage. In fact most of the HTs Doctors use a 1mm punch for multi-haired grafts. So, opposite from what you say topcat I think that you have more chances to cause problem to a multi-haired graft (graft that contains >2 hairs) if you use a punch smaller than 1mm than to cause damage to the skin. In my case they have used 1,2 mm (back in 2006), 1 mm (during the last two of my Hts) and also 0.9 mm, 0.75 mm (for the one or two-hairs grafts). It is true that the 1,2 mm used in 2006 left me some scars but they are only visible if I shave my head or if I have them almost shaved, on the other hand 1mm punch didn €™t leave any scar at all. Another fact is that the robot minimizes damage caused by €œturbulence € which is something that you can expect by any human hand. At the end of the day, in a few months we will all see the results of the robot both in donor and the recipient area (I mean in terms of scars, number of grafts, speed, transaction rates etc), so we should all be patient.

This has been discussed for going on at least 7-8 years now. Nobody has to wait for results just search punch size and white dotting. See what those that actually work in the industry have had to say about it in the past as some seem to be changing their story now so one needs to ask themselves why. Take a look at the numerous pictures of white dot scarring available that have been posted over the years.

Many will not have a problem with this result and that is okay but you should at least be given the information so you can decide what you find acceptable as a patient. This is the one and only point I am trying to make. For God's sake already let patients decide for themselves and stop all this intentional business of not fully informing them.

1.2mm punch's damage the neighbouring follicles,which is what was done to me,it also changes the direction of neighbouring garfts.

I already said that 1,2 mm is not an acceptable punch size any more. I also mentioned that in my case left some white dots, which are apparent in my photos where my hairs are almost shaved (which someone can see in my photoblog link in my signature). It did not damage the neighbouring follicles though €¦ Anyway, my comment remain for the 1 mm punch size, there are no scars visible from that diameter and also I insist that we have to be patient and wait about Artas robot first results €¦ that €™ s all. PS. the picture you have posted cannot be 1mm punch size result, it cannot be, or the doctor just drilled all around his tool and make huge holes €¦

A 1mm punch can leave scars, however some patients heal better than others, have different skin textures etc, therefor not everyone will show scarring.

Close are you saying the doctor that worked on mars had Parkinson's? How do you know this, do you have evidence?
;)

Mars said that in his HT they used 1,2mm, I said (twice) that this tool left me scars (white dots) as well. However the 1mm tool didn't. And the evidence is in my photos. Anyway, I think I will agree with Bigmac, propably not all skins react the same. Last but not least, I don' t want to debate on that, I am just saying that as far as Artas robot is concerned we mast wait in order to see the results in few months. so keep your smiling face for then.

There is nothing to wait for as it is basic math and geometry. Here is the area of the corresponding punch. I have not added the wall of the punch to the measurement.
.75 = .44
1.0 = .78
1.25 = 1.22

That 1.25 punch is almost 3 times the area of .75 and the 1.0 is close to double. Here is a photo of some cardboard cutouts I made and seeing is believing. I did not have a piece of cardboard big enough to represent that last punch.

No smiley face for you

ok then, do not trust my experience. So Dr Rahal, don't bother to inform us about Mr Adamo Papa case, we already know the result from Topcat29.

Close why does DHI advertise "smaller diameter punches (0.7-0.85 mm) lead to faster healing & less marks?" If they are using 1mm punches why are they not stating this? Are you saying what they advertise is not true?

I don €™t know about their advertisements, I just know that this statement is right (you are saying that, I am saying that and I think that everybody believes that). However, what I am saying is that a 1 mm punch does not affect greatly a donor area (from my experience). Furthermore if you will read my story, you will see that in my last two HTs most of my grafts extracted using a 0.7 and 0.8 mm punches and only in the multy-haired grafts (3 and more hairs per grafts) they use a 1mm punch, something that I believe is right if you don €™t want to damage the graft during the extraction.

Close I have seen your result and I agree it looks very good but I am specifically asking about the punch size. DHI implies that their punch size is .70-.85 through their advertising. Are you saying that they used a punch outside of this size range that was larger and that their advertising is false?

I am giving my opinion in this thread and our opinions differ that is all. What is important is that the patient is fully informed by both the clinic using the robot and DHI if they are using larger punches. How can someone not agree with having the patient be fully informed?

I totally agree on that topccat. I told you that I do not know about their advertisement, but your remark is valid, correct and truthful information from a doctor-clinic to the patient is something that mast be followed.
