i have been on propecia for 3 years now, and boy am i struggling with the side effects. but to tell you honestly, i would give anything just to get my hair back. let's just say, i can't really pull off the shaved look. i think this condition certainly made my social life/dating life to suffer. i need help, any treatment you could recommend? or is hair transplant my only best option next?

Lower the Propecia dosage? Add Minoxidil and Nizoral to your regimen?

What sides are you experiencing?

Good advice...personally i would use the foam rather than the liquid as it's easier to apply in my opinion, many people over the years on the forums have maintained with a lower dose of Propecia so it's worth a try if it helps with the sides.....if things get too bad you could try using Saw Palmetto but again this is a DHT blocker so you could still experience similar sides.

One point that is often ignored by many people is how effective Propecia is for maintaining hair in the NW5-6 zones and also increasing the thickness of the hair on the back and sides. I have to buzz my back and sides every two weeks because it is so damn thick. Great donor hair though. If i stop taking Propecia for a while i do notice the sides becoming not quite so thick.

Is the finasteride stopping, or even slowing, the hair loss?

I don't think finasteride works on me but I'm afraid to give it up in case its even slightly slowing my hair loss.

Yes it did stop the hair fall and thinning, it also brought back some thickness although not as much as i want it to especially for the length of time that i have been using the product. At about two years into the treatment, i noticed that I'm starting to lose interest in sex. I thought this was just a phase or something, since I have been so busy with work, and also juggling problems left and right. But now I noticed that symptoms are actually getting worse. This is when i thought that it could be the drug that is causing this to happen. Now I notice that there are times during the day that i find myself in like a mental fog. But its the sexual side effects that bothers me the most. I hardly get an erection now and I'm still in my 40s. I just saw an article which shared about how the drug can create the same side effects i was experiencing. I'm going to try minoxidil and nizoral. How was it in making improvements?

Yes, finasteride stops hair shedding and helps to improve hair growth. Finasteride is not a fast-acting solution and it takes some time to see the results. How long do you take it? What is the dosage?

I take 1mg a day. Have done for about 3 years on and off. For the past year I've been taking it nearly every day.

Sorry pal didn't see this.....i agree with you........its easy to get frustrated if there isnt much regrowth but maintaining healthy native hair is very important when it comes to Ht's. Out of interest how long have did you actually stop taking Propecia for when you noticed the hair becoming a little thinner at the sides?......and how long before it return to its thicker state when you restarted Propecia dude?;)

I agree that propecia has its good point but i am really having a hard time with the side effects. Is there any way or manner of taking the medication help control the side effects?
