Anyone that is balding is fully aware of how difficult it is to find a good hairdresser.

We also know what our ideal hair length is to frame our face and maintain a stylish looking haircut.

Well after having some pretty awful haircuts from Barbers recently (my sister used to cut my hair but she now lives 200miles away) i have embarked on a bit of do it yourself.

I have managed to cut my own hair to between 50-75mm on top and buzzed around the sides from 3mm layered to about 10mm near the top. It really is not that difficult with a decent set of clippers. I started shaving the back and sides to approx 8mm and then the lower sections to 3mm.

If you take your time, you can produce good results.

I get annoyed with the hair around the back and sides of my hair it is thick and perfect donor material. However it sticks straight out and i have to use wax to stick it down, now that i cut it weekly by myself i no longer have this problem.

This is not a joke! Im a NW4 with a reasonable hairline and thin vertex and i no longer have to visit the Barbers every couple of weeks to keep it looking respectable.

Does anyone else here, cut there own hair?

I tried cutting my own hair for about a year several years back. I had a roommate who had mastered giving himself a fade and has been cutting his hair for over 10 years now, and he taught me how to do it. I got pretty decent at it, but I never could get it to look as good as a professional could. I eventually threw in the towel and went back to a barber.

Fortunately, I'm letting my hair grow longer these days, so I don't need haircuts as frequently - much better on the wallet. And having my hairline restored over the past year definitely helps as well, as I don't have to keep it on the shorter side to hide my receding hairline anymore.
