Our Patient ´s desire was to rebuild his hair line and frontal third; prior to loss he had a distinctive frontal peak he wished to create, also rebuilding the temporal areas either side of the hair line to allow a better framing of his face. His natural characteristics were taken into consideration if he loses more hair in the future.

Dazz, to our knowledge he is not on any meds, and this was taken into consideration with the design and his donor ability for the future.

I think our patient ´s "attitude" in the video says how much he ´s happy with his result. When everything goes well this is one of those occasions when the change is literally life changing for the person.

His hair characteristics played for restoration and against, coarse dark hair can be problem creating a natural hair line, also with the contrast of skin to hair colour, the benefit being coarse hair allows for greater distribution of the grafts.

Besides a small area, we did not touch we are able to rebuild the frontal third and blend slightly into the mid-section as well as reconstruct his temporal points, needing around 200 + grafts each side.

Actually this is one of the best results I have ever seen when it comes to thickness and density with what I would consider to be a low amount of grafts. Especially when compared to many others I have seen in the past with an equivalent amount of hairloss.

What is even more amazing is that you were able to achieve that hairline with hairs from the occipital zone on a patient that seems to have a very thick caliber of hair. I have seen so many results over the years of thicker caliber hair mostly Indian patients where the hairline just did not look right but you have clearly shown here that it is possible to have a completely natural looking hairline using those hairs.

Can you tell us about the numbers on this patient €™s donor density and any comment on the caliber of the hair shaft itself and any other donor characteristics that might be important.

I don €™t often comment on results but this is clearly one that keeps you coming back to look at as is just doesn €™t seem possible, really amazing result.

In respect to your questions, his density was 75 around the sides and 85 around the back, the hair to graft breakdown 2.14, slightly below average. Coarse hair and a high skin to hair colour variant.

The framing of the face has an enormous impact on the person ´s appearance, creating a natural demarcation of the face directs the attention of the viewer back to the middle of the face rather than the receding hairline or forehead.

The front line is not a straight flat line but the placement of higher and lower-lying hairs of varying density. To reconstruct a natural hairline you need follicular units from the anterior part of the head to ensure a gentle blend and subtlety to the hairline then behind 2-hair follicular units to start the increase in density. Dependent on the hair characteristics the number of single hairs can vary considerably to ensure firstly a natural look and not a wall of hair, but also that the hairline is not too see-through and the transition to 2 hair FU ´s is totally natural.

We also place emphasis on using custom blades and following the curvature of the hair shaft; allowing for smaller, closer and precise slits to be made for the single hairs, and creating the illusion of more density by following the curvature of the hair, all hairs following the same curvature means they not only blend together but give each other more coverage.
