Have I rushed into things?

Hello,

After receding noticeably on my front for around a year now I decided to take further action after browsing this forum. I €™m 28, I have been on Procepia for around 6 months which has thickened my crown and (touch wood) has not caused me any side effects so far so I would say this is working. I stopped for a few weeks as I ran out and was on holiday and my crown started to thin quickly. this seems to have sorted itself after getting back on Propecia for around 2 weeks. (Is this possible?!)

After lurking on this forum I visited Dr Lorenzo for a consultation not really expecting much, wondering if it was a waste of time as I am not balding and some people would say €˜you €™re fine €™. (I €™m a 2 on the Norwood scale) After the consultation I came away wanting FUE treatment after seeing more of his work, him saying I was a candidate and that my donor is healthy (I know Dr Lorenzo will turn people away unlike some doctors)

Dr Lorenzo is very busy so choice on my appointment date wasn €™t a luxury I could afford which is fine, but now with the appointment coming closer I am wondering if I have researched this enough or if I €™m making a rash decision. As it is hairline work I am having done some people are saying he is €˜conservative €™ which is not a bad thing as it is important to create something realistic but I wonder if my choice would be better with someone else? Don €™t get me wrong I look in the mirror every day and it causes me a loss of confidence and with the shape of my head shaving is it is not an option €¦ believe me if I thought I could away with it I would!

I €™m not getting cold feet, but I read of people having 3+ consultations, hearing about €˜unrealistic expectations €™ especially those on the NW2 scale and the disappointment afterwards, speaking with a psychologist, not having surgery in your 20 €™s etc and I €™m wondering if I €™ve just rushed it all.

I must admit I felt very comfortable with Dr Lorenzo who totally €˜got €™ why I wanted it and what I wanted done, I know he €™s generally considered the best FUE doctor, and despite the price I really like that he does all the grafts himself, plus I am local to the Farjo clinic so it feels like this is a good time as having to travel over to Spain would put it out my price range. Plus if I needed further work I know he will do this on a €˜knockdown €™ price.

So yes, to cut to the chase, do I need further to consultations or if I €™m going with the €˜best €™ do I just need to worry less and it €™s a case of €˜you €™re not going to find any better? €™

Thanks

I think you are making an excellent choice. Other than that I would just suggest learning as much about the procedure itself as possible. Understand the numbers completely €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦.what you had and what you will have after the surgery. It will give you a realistic view of what to expect. If you know what to expect if becomes very hard to be disappointed and if it turns out to be more then you expect all the better.

Best wishes to you.

4 awesome repairs with SMG
You will be fine with Dr Lorenzo as hes producing superb work dude;) I agree with Topcat though when he says spend some time before the surgery learning as much as possible about the procedure....mainly so you know what to expect.
best wishes BN

If you do have any doubts give the clinic a call, you need to be 100 per cent sure this is what you want.
How many grafts are you going for?

hi chaps,
yes i bit the bullet and went for it. with lorenzo in the uk and minimal travelling involved i decided i should just go for it.
i had around 1800+ grafts to fill in the sides and also lower my hairline. nearly four months has now passed and progress has been slow but i'm noticing the difference.
theres a nagging thought in my mind that i didn't have enough grafts looking at other hairline cases as in some bits it seems somehwat thin but then i don't think it's fair to judge after 4 months, i have seen a few judge doctors too soon on their work so it's only fair to wait and see if that is indeed the case.
i'm getting my first 'real haircut' in the next week so i perhaps it will look better then - but don't take this as regret or displeasure! i am pleased to have not used much donor as i am still 28 (on medication) so i can look at work later when i am 30+ if needed
any questions, ask away!

Congratulations on your surgery. I recently had surgery and I'm waiting on my new growth. Any pictures of your surgery?
