Here are my DNA results
I had my DNA test a few weeks ago and this is what came out.
It all begins with a small sample of saliva. You DNA could be taken from any cell or place in your body, they all consist of identical DNA (except for mutated DNA, but that could spell bad news)
FYI : The test analyzes 13 genes and 48 genetic variations related to alopecia
Before reading the conclusions please note that:
DNA testing does NOT give you a diagnose, nor a prediction about future hair loss. Lifestyle is another factor that is not included but could potentially have an effect on the hair.
The DNA test can provide the answer to which molecules will help your particular body against hair loss, and which will not do anything for you (and thus 100% waist of time, energy and money).
This is the reason why medication comes in different ‘flavors’. Not everybody reacts the same to the same medication. Hence anti hair loss medication will not work the same for everybody.
Therefore, using related metabolic pathways of all anti alopecia medications will give the most effective drug, at the right dose, and indicates which medications to avoid.
The entire report is about 23 pages, but I took a screen shot of the most important information.
What is very clear is that I should use Dutasteride instead of Finasteride. I will also ask the dr. to mix Latanoprost (although I could use minoxidil, but it sometimes give head ache).
Furthermore I will start to supplements : selenium yeast, Zinc and retinol.
If you have questions I will be happy to try to answer them, and if too technical I will ask the dr. to formulate an answer.
