the 12 months period seems to be the general consensus among Drs. there must be a reason to it

What do you think when the front is transplanted in the first round and the crown in the second? Will the donor be fully recovered after 6 months?

Not once size fits all and the obvious question would be to what area? Are we talking to a completely different area as in crown for second when the first was a hair line? Are we talking continuation from a first surgery with a cross over placing into the previous transplanted area and then moving backwards? So, these details are important and will change the waiting times. If totally different area then you do not need to wait 12 months for the donor to heal if the donor is the concern. If you are continuing in the same areas but expanding then best to let all the growth come in before you then revisit to then work backwards.

At the clinic for years we did successfully 2nd procedures after post 8 months result post 1st procedure, the donor will be recovered from the trauma.

The only situation I think will be better to wait more is if a paitent had a crown procedure and will want enhancement procedure for the crown due to slower growth at the crown area.

Yeh 8 months is fine if the area to be treated is different...if wanted to fill in the same area thn imo 12 month wait should be worth..

Depends where you want to transplant.
If it is a new area totally separate from the first area, then we need to wait 1 (one) month only.
If it is adjacent to a previously transplanted area, then wait for all the hair to grow in the margin/boundary. This usually takes 6-8 months.

If you are going to add density to a previously transplanted area, then wait for 12 to 14 months.

I waited 12 months between my first and second hair transplant, and I found the second hair transplant (both with Dr De Reys) more more painful. However, when I had my third, fourth, and fifth hair transplants, there was at least 2 years between the procedures, there were no issues with pain. That's just my experience though.

Hi, What area of the head was the second procedure .

It was the same area, to add some density - front and crown. I found the extractions much more painful, although this was back in the day when manual punches were used.
