How many grafts are available in the hair transplant donor zone?

How many grafts are available from the average male donor zone? I`ve seen conflicting reports which state 5000 to 7000 grafts are available from the narrow band of hair that is consider to be the safest area - however when I view patients from Dr Lorenzo in Spain gets 9000 plus grafts and goes much higher up to extract grafts.

I`ve attached a picture to illustrate what I mean.

Each patient is different.

I feel the 5000 - 7000 grafts is about right for the average, some with more advanced hair loss will have less while others may have more. Only way to find out for yourself is to have a consult with a clinic.

I'm emailing several clinics before I finalise my decision on which ones to have face to face consults with.

It depends on whether you are looking at FUE or FUT and everyone is different depending on hair density and laxity for FUT. To get the large numbers of grafts with FUE you do need to go out of the safe zone that you have drawn but this is only possible if you have viable hairs to be obtained from there.

As Bigmac says you should have some in house consultations but even with these expect varying answers from the clinics.
