If you've noticed an increase in the amount of hair tangled in your comb, on your pillow, or in the shower drain, there are numerous aspects to consider, but it's easy to believe that your medications don't need to be investigated as well.

It's much more difficult when you realize that your medicines are to blame, but you can't stop taking them because, well, you need them. Some drugs that can cause hair loss in some persons may not cause hair loss in others.

And, while you only lose a tiny proportion of your hair [not all of it], you should nonetheless review your prescriptions if you experience hair loss after starting them for the first time. You should also be aware that increased hair loss normally happens 6 weeks to 3 months after beginning a new medicine.

Here's What You Can Do If Your Medications Cause Hair Loss

Don't panic if one of your prescribed medications or drugs lists hair loss as one of its side effects. It's likely that it only affects some people [not everyone] and causes only minor hair loss. There are numerous medicines that can harm your hair, according to research and patient reports.

Visit your hair doctor if you notice significant hair loss after beginning any new medication. Begin with an assessment and proceed from there.
