HT's are they worth it?

Well..
I have a HT consultation with Zering medical on tuesday.
Regardless of what they say, I would like the opinions of all of you HT patients.
I have seen a lot of before and after photos, all look good or great but what about long term? I don't really see a lot of long term photos.
I take notice of the most famous HT patient, Wayne Rooney, at first it looked fantastic! It convinced a lot of balding men to follow in his footsteps. But it has been 4 years now dor Rooney, he has had a second transplant, spent thousands more for his HT than we probably could and lets be honest. It looks awful and patchy!
Does this happen for many others?

That is a very hard question to answer as there are so many variables involved. Family history of hairloss, hair color and caliber, head size, hair type (curly, wavy, etc.), use of medications and several I €™m sure I €™m leaving out.

It would probably just be easier to say that you can turn the clock back a set number of years keeping those variables in mind but then that does not always apply. If you were to take someone very young and give them the hairline they had 5 years previously that may not hold up long term but yet someone older who has a clear hairloss pattern that seems to be slowing can turn the clock back 5 years and be very happy and it would last long term. One also has to keep in mind that turning the clock back 5 years does not meet the expectation of many as they would like to turn the clock back 20 years which is simply a mathematical impossibility in most cases.

It really comes down to an equation with different variables depending on each individual and with differing variables the answer will never be the same. Someone who is honest and ethical can tell you what the real deal is and you can take it or leave it. But then you will always have those that will tell you everything will be great and it €™s all good, what you want we can do............. no problemo..............


It all starts with getting honest straight advice and it either meets your expectation or it doesn €™t. If it doesn €™t €™ then it just might not be an option. For the most part transplanted hair lasts a lifetime providing you are not going to be a NW6 without the use of medication and the donor hairs are programmed to be lost, then those transplanted hair might not last, yet another variable. Then you have the competency of the clinic itself. It all seems simple when in fact it €™s not so simple yet many go into it thinking it €™s all very simple.


You can only be happy with honest information so that your end result either meets or exceeds you expectations and that applies long term too. Even if what you were told during a consultation was less then you hoped you could achieve if the result met or exceeded it...................chances are you would be very happy.

I'm sure others will chime in as we all have a unique view of both the procedure and the industry.

To make it even simpler...............those that are happy both short term and long term were given honest information that was 100% complete and they understood the information completely......................those that are unhappy both short and long term were given something different and this excludes the rare instance where a surgery failed for some reason that was under no one's control.

Hair transplants will stand the test of time with careful planning. A skilled doctor will take all factors into consideration when planning your transplant, things such as possible future loss, donor supply, medications. Topcat has covered lots of important points. From all the research I've done so far, the transplant results look worth it if you have done a lot of research to choose the right clinic and you have realistic expectations. Meeting expectations was really emphasized to me at Shapiro Medical.

Most patients move on from the forums after the 12 month plus mark, some will pop back periodically to update or if they require more work.
Some will have a HT which looks great but they may continue to lose native hair, these are factors that you need to consider, some have one HT and that's it whilst others may need further work in the future depending on their hairloss pattern.

On the flipside of all of this there have probably been thousands of patients who have had very bad experiences some having their lives destroyed due to being given bad information. They post for a short time and they too move on. What you are then left with are those that work in the industry with a very few that are very honest and ethical but many who in fact are not and tend to let money sway their advice and their actions. Your choice then becomes to hope you have figured it out by listening to as many as possible along with other posters who also very often might not really know as much as they might think as many have never had a procedure and gather information from those who in turn have never had a procedure.

It becomes a game of just trying to figure it out for many and hoping they got it right and for many that really thought they had it figured out they realize sometimes too late that they didn €™t. Unless you are absolutely sure in your decision then it €™s best to probably pass on the procedure as your happiness could be at stake. No matter how bald a person is having a bad hair transplant or something that does not look natural is infinitely worse.

When hair transplants are good they can be really life changing, having a poor or badly planed hair transplant can be equally devastating, Make sure you understand the long term implications (future loss, medication and etc) ad dont go ahead just because someone gave you a good price, its a long term decision that will have long term implications and should be considered as such.
