In the UK beginning my journey with FUE / HT and looking for help and advice

I've been losing my hair gradually for the last few years. It's now very noticeable and it's something I am very self conscious of and feel a great deal of anxiety about. I have decided to start looking into the idea of having a hair transplant. I've spoken with immediate family who are supportive but say I don't need to do it - typical family response!

I had a consultation recently booked in with "FUE Clinics" in the UK but after researching them more thoroughly I cancelled the consultation, as I was put off by what I read and didn't want to start this process on the wrong footing. I'm nervous enough as is.

I have found it quite difficult to find real information online regarding FUE / HT, as a lot of it is just advertising written in the form of blogs etc. I've been visiting your great forum for a little while and have been reading up a lot but I am still unsure. It's such a big decision to make, I guess I'd like some help / reassurance.

Some older posts on here I have found have suggested that the UK is not very well regarded for FUE treatments - is this still the case in 2016? As with many people cost is a limitation (I wish money was not object!) so I think staying in the UK would be my only choice, financially.

What are some recommendations for quality UK doctors who would carry out an FUE procedure? I'd love to see some more up to date recommendations / advice.
I have a thousand and one questions, which I'll likely think of along the way (but naturally I'm drawing a blank right now).

Attached are some pictures of my hair, currently. My hair has always been very fine. I haven't ever done any at home treatment (such Minoxidil, Finasteride) so this is totally untreated.

Anyway, hello and I'd love to hear the thoughts of other users on here.

Hi, how old are you? Does your hair loss seem to have stabilised or are you still losing hair?

I think it's vital you're taking Finasteride as this helps stabilise hair loss and helps prevent further loss. Most people who have hair transplants do take it to prevent ongoing loss and you want to avoid chasing the hair loss with recurrent transplants.

With regards to FUE in the UK I would consider Dr Ball and Farjo. However the UK is quite expensive and you will find you would save money but not quality by going to Belgium or Turkey, even considering the travel costs.

I agree it would be so much wiser to have your loss stabilised first imo before contemplating a HT, however if you go to a decent surgeon who takes future loss into consideration and plans his approach around it, then meds are preferred but not essential. I agree with the recommendations too for the UK Hairguy has mentioned..........both Drs Ball and Farjo are producing quality work and are very ethical.
